Of the 1500 (and counting) epigrams I've written - this one has received the most Re-Tweets. A Re-Tweet (or RT) is a Twitter social media tweet/post that your followers like enough to tweet themselves and pass along to their followers. I thought I would share it here today to remind ourselves that no matter how much attention and intention we give to the manifestation of our goals and dreams - that Love is the real measurement of success.

It is very easy to get caught up in the tangibles. People want to cut to the chase. Just show me how - they say. Have you ever heard a baby tell its Mother: Would you just tell me how to do this walking thing? The missteps are half the fun! Baby goes boom!!

The most revered vocalists of all time never took a voice lesson. The greatest writers and authors were not necessarily A students at grammar and creative writing. If you've read Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol - you may have noticed that Dickens uses the word ruddy six times in a relatively short story - most of which are in the first 10 pages! No one would be taught to use a word like ruddy so often. They'd probably be told not to use it all! But that is the charm of Dickens - his originality that we received through his divinity in writing one of the most beloved redemptive tales.

When it comes to building a bridge across the San Francisco Bay - you better have a great blueprint; plan; materials; skill and manpower to erect the Golden Gate Bridge. But you can bet a lot of love went into those expansive plans as well. Every successful endeavor has at least a modicum of preparation and planning; training and execution. We desire to learn the HOW'S of life and they do have an important role to play. But it is real easy to tip the scales so far in favor of How to Do It that we lose sight of the WHY.

Now - hold that thought while I DO share some HOWs. If you are seeking some tangible ideas regarding creating and manifesting an entrepreneurial dream - here are a few:

• Get a website: You can be up and running in a day at minimal cost. I use Website Tonight but there are lots of inexpensive templates to get you going. A domain is usually less than $10. If nothing else - reserve your name (or product name) today!
• Start a Blog. They're FREE! Use Blogger or Word Press.
• Write! This can be in your Journal or on your Blog. By doing this you will create a discipline and generate material for future products and services. Jot down notes. When I write and post an epigram - I can come back to it months later and be inspired to write. (Like I am doing now)
• Record your Blogs and post Podcasts. It takes one or two minutes to record what may have taken you hours to write. A podcast literally gives voice to your authoring.
• Build your Social Media. Start on Twitter by following like minded individuals. You can follow up to 2000 people a day. You'll be followed back by 25 to 30% of these people. In a week you could have 1000 or more followers. Interact with them. They like that. Make sure your profile has key words. If you are into consciousness make sure Consciousness is in your profile. Put a link to your webpage in your profile.
• Facebook is great to use as well. Generating followers beyond your real social network is harder. Facebook does not allow you to follow people you don't know in large numbers. Once you have established some Twitter friends - attempt to convert them to a Facebook connection. Send them a message via Facebook that you have "friended" them and you know them from Twitter. This will generate a high conversion rate of requests to connections.
• Build a database. It is important. Every artist (and you are an artist) has a fan base. Connect! Offer what you do best as a gift and reason to receive permission to share. For example - I offered my seminar recordings as a thank you in advance for those who opted to receive the Daily Epigram and Life Coaching Lesson.
• Create additional products and services from your work. My book is available in hard cover - paperback - Kindle and Nook. It is also available as an Audio Book that can be downloaded in mere minutes. I created a Workshop/Seminar from my book and recorded that for sale and as a gift. These short essays will ultimately be used as foundational material for the next book(s). You have value and so do your expressions. Share them!
• You have probably seen eBooks or Special Reports. Once you have at least 40 pages of quality information to share - share it! The rules of engagement in the Internet era (which is never going away) have changed everything! You can use a 30 to 40 page eBook you have composed as a great business card! Don't be shy. Give it away!
• You Tube. If you like being in front of the camera - create short video messages and post them on your You Tube Channel and Website. Practice a lot first. Not everyone comes across confident on video. If you look unsure of yourself you could undermine the authority that you have built so far. Video should be entered into cautiously - but if mastered - can make you a star! (You already are)
• Promotional Services. There are so many marketing and promotion services out there it would make your head spin. I can give you a few names and organizations. But nobody can promote you better than yourself.
• Life Coaching. If Peyton Manning and Drew Brees and Jack Canfield and just about every mega-successful person that has ever existed has had a mentor - or what we would call a Life Coach these days - then why not you? A Life Coach can help you with the tangibles (like today's email) and the metaphysical and spiritual. (Like today's email) They help you define your wants - needs and desires. They help YOU come up with the answers you know are best. They facilitate clarity - and can be the catalyst for action. They help you be accountable to yourself and your goals. Make sure the coach you choose has a coach as well. A Life Coach who doesn't have a Life Coach isn't practicing what they are teaching. (FYI- I am a Life Coach with a Life Coach)

These are some tangible ideas that you can utilize in the promotion and marketing of your brand (if that has any interest at all to you) as well as ways that can lead to material wealth.

It is really important that the desire to serve is the objective behind your ideas and that the enterprise is powered by Love. Love is the only thing that is real and the only thing which is eternal. If you want what you create to have great and lasting impact - do it with - through as Love.

All the plans of mice and men fade unless they are a part of Divine Will. The parts of those men's (and women's) plans that remain - are the ones that were imbued with divinity. The only HOW that matters is how much Love was used in the expression of the dream.

Money is not a measurement of competency. Be Inspiring and people will line up around the clock to try your treasures on for time.

In 1987 my wife and I sang on stage with REO Speedwagon. This was while we were doing a Morning radio show at WJLQ in Pensacola, Florida. The song we got to add background vocals to was “Roll With the Changes”. Keep On Rollin’ – Keep On Rollin’ - Ohhh-oohh – with the Changes! Kevin Cronin came by and stuck the microphone in Denise’s face and sweated on her. She didn’t wash for a week!

In 1989 – the lead guitarist for REO – Gary Richrath – left the band. As hard as it is to believe – Gary has not been a member of this legendary rock group longer than he was its driving force – writing “Ridin’ the Storm Out” and “Take it on the Run”. I tried to go to Gary’s webpage today – it was blank.

On several occasions I have met the remaining members of REO Speedwagon at concert venues – never failing to ask lead singer - Kevin Cronin - about the prospects of Gary returning to the band and adding his signature guitar sound. Kevin always says that there is an open invitation and that they love him very much.

As I wrote in You Are God’s Best Idea!; the story behind the changes that happen in bands like Chicago; Styx; Journey and REO are very similar. It is usually EGO injected with foreign substances. Not all that different than the things that separate us from our Good.Yet – the beat goes on. The bands play on. The Show Must Go On! The group Chicago has now played thousands of shows over the past 25 years without Peter Cetera. Journey is as popular as ever without Steve Perry – replaced by a guy on You Tube. STYX rock’s the paradise without the soaring and theatrical voice of Dennis DeYoung. And Danny Hutton along with Cory Wells, have sung in two-part harmony for 35 years in the Three Dog Night sans Chuck Negron.

Life is full of changes. The only thing that doesn’t change – is change. We live in an ocean of motion. The planet Earth is spinning at 67,000 miles an hour. How we handle and adapt to change will determine our level of peace and harmony. If you are part of a group – even the most important part of a group – throwing the rest of the band under the tour bus is not divine.

My message is that You Are God’s Best Idea! But so is everyone else. My efforts are to raise and rock and roll your consciousness. We should applaud and support each other when the seats are filled or empty. If you abandoned ship – you can’t be real hurt if those still on board - sail on. In life - there are times when we get dumped and when we do the dumping. Usually you have been done a favor if you have been given the pink slip. But if it is you who has given everyone else the slip – don’t be surprised if they don’t catch your subsequent fall.

Consider this a cautionary note in the song of your life. Chances are we have pushed our fair share of buttons and have set up camp underneath a colleague’s skin threatening to erupt if we don’t get our way. Sometimes it is just better to drop our drumsticks for a day or two and allow energy to realign with the rhythm of life – which is love and brother/sisterhood.

I’m still holding out for a Rock N’ Roll Reunion for our brethren above. Hey – if David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen can bury the spandex – anything is possible!

Get your bearings straight. Imagine that the great balls of fire that are bowled our way from time to time are not an Attack of the Killer Tomatoes – but a lovely Bouquet of Roses – a little thorny – but not worth breaking up the band for.

Oh and – remember to Keep On Lovin’ You – and Don’t Stop Believin’!

Gratitude and appreciation: Two things that you cannot express too much of.

There really are two kinds of people in the world: The Optimist and the Pessimist. Opt - means to select; pick; elect; prefer and choose. Pessimism comes from the Latin to expect the worst! An Idealist is a person who cherishes or pursues nobility and high principles in all things; a Visionary. Actually – we are all Visionaries who choose what we see. The Realist chooses to see things as they are while ignoring the possibilities. Let’s take a look.

The Optimist sees what is – appreciates it for what it is – and dreams of more and better. The Pessimist sees what is - wishing it were different – and often wanting to go back to a time when they were complaining just as much. Optimists have an appreciation for the Process. They know that even in what appears to be a rotten situation – they can use the Power and Laws of the Universe to make a change. An Optimist knows that the paper cut heals. The Pessimist curses the paper; the cut; the blood and the pain – as if this inconsequential slice of life is a permanent perpetuation. We have all fallen under the spell of pessimism at one or more times in our lives. It is up to us to see our way out of it!

Some of the greatest stories of all time highlight the enlightenment of the Pessimist who realizes – just before the closing credits – that this really is a Wonderful Life: Classic characters such as - The Grinch – Scrooge - Phil Conners (Groundhog Day); and, of course, George Bailey. Many of us are like Jimmy Stewart’s George Bailey.

George Bailey is a good man enjoying a good life in a good town - which is better than he consciously acknowledges. His life doesn’t always go the way he wills – yet it does create a wave of divine will that is seen clearly only after it has been erased in the third act. Jimmy Stewart’s George Bailey does serve the small-town of Bedford Falls loyally, if not begrudgingly, for many years. He believes there is a pay-off in the form of a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow - not realizing until the bells ring - that the rainbow of life and all of its breathtaking colors - is the Gold! All we have to do is breathe it in – deeply and with appreciation.

I have been excused of having a Pollyannaish attitude. This was almost always offered up in a terse tone. Recently I rented the movie Pollyanna. How anyone could turn such a wonderful and divine character like Pollyanna into an insult is beyond me. Must have been a Pessimist! It’s kind of like when people say “Way to go Einstein”- after someone has made a mistake. Only a Pessimist could take the name of one of the most intelligent persons to ever live on this planet and use it as an axiom for stupidity. Someone needs to go back to school!

I have worn corrective glasses since I was in seventh grade. Every once in a while I think about my eyesight and wish it were different. The sentiment is perfectly normal – even though my optics are not. I am so grateful that I have a means to seeing clearly with and through my corrective lenses. It is a very minor inconvenience for the gift of glorious sight. Raising your Consciousness could be reasonably described as receiving the gift of corrective vision.

What minor inconvenience do you fret over that clouds your vision of living the Undeniable Life? What simple corrective action could you take that would allow you to see beyond the splinter - and behold the Forest? The answer to these questions is the gap between the trivial and the consequential – what will be forgotten and remembered. Your clarity is powered by gratitude and appreciation for what is now; understanding that the power which was used to create this temporary fuzzy appearance – will be used to clear things up.

Live Ideally! Realists get what they’ve got – and lose it. Idealists get what they want – and multiply it - with appreciation.

Life is Beautiful. Isn’t it Wonderful? Opt in.

I wrote the epigram above just hours before I saw it unfold right before my bugged eyes.

When you are vibrating at a higher consciousness - your inner intuition is operating at maximum attention. The Universe slows down so you can see things (or sense them) in advance. There is a knowing that is hard to put in words. I guess it would be similar to a mother’s intuition. In fact – it may be the very same thing.

As a Life Coach – it would never be my intention to project cautionary tales to the point that the client would become paralyzed to act on their own behalf. My job is to do just the opposite: It is to raise the vibration of your trust in the process and be the catalyst for forward motion that helps you rise to the special occasions of your life. But the process requires constructive choices.

There are two inner voices: The often faulty voice of EGO and the voice of your True and Authentic Self – the one that has your best and divine interests in Mind. As cartoonish as it may seem – it really is kind of like the old TV commercials with the little Angels (One in White and the other in Red) sitting on opposite shoulders trying to talk you into (or out of) trouble. Who you listen to is whom you honor. Honor your true Self!

At 1:30am in the morning – after 16 consecutive hours of writing; reading; listening; and working on my awareness – and just moments before I was about to shut it down for the evening – I decided to check out one more thing. My intuition was telling me to go to sleep; get some rest and start tomorrow early. But I didn’t listen.
I just had to accomplish one more thing.

Long story short – I spent four early morning hours and two more today - remedying the inadvertent mis-take I made. It was a choice executed while I was tired and not acting in harmony with the Presence. It’s okay to leave a little something for tomorrow. Sometimes we just need to give it a rest - to be our best.

Fortunately - the peace I have acquired over the past few years allowed me to stay calm while finding and executing the solution and all is well. It always is.

Strengthen the neural pathways in your brain by making the divine decisions – especially the tough ones – that build a firewall between you and catastrophe. Don’t allow your consciousness to atrophy. Live strong!

Wouldn’t it be easier if our paths were clearly marked with lots of signs and directional arrows? We’d certainly get to where we’re going sooner. But life isn’t a race you want to finish first.

I’ve recently read a book called Busting Loose from the Money Game by Robert Scheinfeld. In the book - Scheinfeld suggests that in Phase I of our lives – the less enlightened years – we have purposely hidden our real Power in eggs. I guess you could call them boxes or lockets or keys. The idea is that we are playing a game similar to an Easter egg hunt where we’ve placed the Truth of our divinity and the source of our Strength away so we can find them when we are ready to live in harmony with the Universe and collapse the illusions. We open up the floodgates of abundance when we realize we have had the Power all along. It’s Dorothy at the end of the Wizard of Oz clicking her heels.

You’ve got the Power. You are connected to Source. When you step in harmony with the Life Principle – you Rock as One. And just as the streets of paradise are alleged to be paved with Gold – the ground you waltz upon are Holy (Wholly) when you dance with the Divine.

This is what living consciously is. It is remembering who you were before choosing to be here. Finding answers as the inner Light grows and glows - illuminating Truth. You make this little Light shine when you clearly see the veracity of your being. You are Divine and Important – Needed and Necessary – Loved and the Beloved: You Are God’s Best Idea!

You are only lost as long as you are looking for a path you’re supposed to pave! I think I just wrote another epigram. You are only lost for as long as you are seeking another’s path. You have been commissioned to leave your divine mark - blaze a trail or at least – clear away some brush :-)

Change the road you are on – literally – from dirt and gravel – tar and cement – to Gold. Close your eyes and start tap dancing – there’s Gold in them thar heels!

I use the word EXPECT a lot. Ten of my original epigrams used a variation of the word expect. I felt compelled to get across the idea that an expectation – one way or the other – trumps so many other parts of our thought processes. Apparently – this is now proven science.

I am listening to a new book by brain/mind expert Jeffrey Schwartz called You Are Not Your Brain. Over and over again the idea is that there is a distinct difference between our brain and our Minds. He refers to the Mind as the Wise Advocate. I use the concept of inherent Divinity – the divine essence and Presence of God within.

The brain is a biological and chemical organ that likes to have its own way. Think Ego. It is always on doing what it thinks it is supposed to do – THINK! If you could view the brain at work (and now neuroscientists can with state-of-the-art instruments) it would be like watching fireworks on the 4th of July! I go into great detail about what is really going on with the brain as it relates to our sometimes faulty and self-destructive thinking in You Are God’s Best Idea! For now – just know that you do not have to accept every thought that pops up. You get to choose which thoughts are YOURS to keep and act on - and which ones are just static bleed-through from the brain - Ego. (Ego – as in Edging God Out)

In the You Are Not Your Brain book – the author discusses research that has been done regarding desire and expectation. We hear the word desire thrown around a lot – usually in the context of - if your desire is just a little bit stronger – you’ll succeed. That is not necessarily so. A strong desire can actually be counterproductive in some situations. Let me explain.

A strong desire with weak expectations equals poor results. What you really really really want - is a poor substitute for what you really EXPECT. In one placebo test after another - the person with the greater expectation of improved health – had better results than the person who received the actual medicine and desired well-being - but had a low expectation of improvement. Here is this idea in a mathematical equation:

A.) Desire x Action x Low Expectations = Poor Results

B.) Desire x Action x High Expectations x Acceptations=Good Results

You could use Faith as a synonym for Expectation, too. Faith means you know you can do something you have not done before. Belief means you believe you can do something you have done before – again. Notice I add my special ingredient that almost no one else mentions. Acceptance. You must accept all the good that is inherently yours.

Our math equation is relevant even if person A is getting the real deal medicine or, in the case of a job interview, is the better qualified candidate. As a manager who has interviewed and hired over 100 people in my career – I can attest to hiring the confident and enthusiastic applicant - who might not be quite as competent - over the more competent, yet less confident prospect – nine times out of ten. Both job seekers have a great desire to get the job – only one (in our example) has the requisite expectation they will land the position which comes through loud and clear in their energy and spirit. And as we all should know by now – this is about energy – connections – compatibility and attraction.

Frustration - is when your strong desires are not matched with a commensurate expectation. Think about what is frustrating you right now. How are those New Year resolutions coming along? Was your expectation of success equal to your desire for results? The level of your enthusiasm in the action steps you take is usually a good barometer of how high your expectancy is. And don’t forget the acceptance part of the formula – which I will often come back to in these coaching lessons.

You can reel that fish in and have your catch (or match) on board - but if you don’t place him in your basket – metaphorically speaking – you have filleted your soul. Your admirable desires are your soul’s wishes.

The mistakes of the past do not disqualify you from leading with Truth in the present.

History is filled with figures that were shortchanged at their own hands who came back on the Wings of Truth – Peace; Love and Understanding and changed the world – or at least what’s for dinner! It may seem that these about-faces were just an exercise in pure determination- but I classify a determination powered by a divine desire – as love. Loving oneself enough to get up and try again and offer an expression of your inherent divinity.

Here are just a few famous examples of people who did not allow a former failure prevent a future success:

• Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team in 10th grade.

• Johann Sebastian Bach was not considered a good musician and was passed over for a position he desired by musicians who were not celebrated even in their day.

• After driving everyone away due to his disagreeable personality - George Foreman came back from a very long retirement - now as a man of high character - and won back his heavyweight boxing crown at (for a boxer) the ancient age of 45.

• Colonel Sanders started Kentucky Fried Chicken at the retirement age of 65 because his pension was so small. Even after two full years, he had sold just five franchises. Soon – however – his southern and pressure fried chicken became the standard that all other fried chicken is compared.

• Frank Sinatra was viewed as a has-been at age 34; Tony Bennett and Willie Nelson both had long and costly dealings with the IRS.

• J.K. Rowling was an unemployed mother receiving government assistance, living with a family member, while writing “Harry Potter.”

• Albert Einstein was considered a mediocre student; did not gain entrance to an engineering school, and thought himself unimaginative. Einstein would be – like my son – considered autistic today.

• Wiped out by the stock market crash of the Great Depression, Winston Churchill, at 64, put his estate up for sale in the late 1930s. Just a few years later while in his 70s – Churchill – who was not held in high regard by most British - lead the resistance to Hitler’s Third Reich.

• Abraham Lincoln lost every office he ran for before being elected the 16th President and preserving the greatest Democracy in human history.

I don’t know all the particulars regarding the personalities above – but in most, if not all of these and other equally celebrated cases, it was the person’s own mistakes and poor choices that placed them in the unenviable positions they were in before their extraordinary reversal of fortune. They all got off the canvas (literally in the case of George Foreman) and didn’t just change the ways they tried – they changed the ways they lived.

Although we may be born with certain personality traits – our character is solely in our own hands. When you see a large family together like mine – you would quickly notice some commonalities. The way we laugh – if not our senses of humor. I catch myself saying things in a certain tone which I recognize in my siblings or parents. Some of those things may be hard-wired in the DNA – but desire; perseverance; faith and consciousness are the things that mold character – and our subsequent choices.

It is true that everyone has made poor decisions at one time or another and there were consequences associated with those compromises. But you are not your situations or circumstances. Our real identity – our inherent divinity - lies in our heart – and everyone was given a heart of gold – but we sometimes value ourselves as if we were pyrite – fool’s gold.

No matter how high or low you have previously been – the word you speak today turns the pages of the story you occupy tomorrow. Your word – and the feelings and emotions and vibrations and Power you put behind them – never stop creating. You can create your new chapters – your comeback story – with a Rocky Balboa-arms-held-high ending – right here and right now! (Gonna Fly Now!)

As I wrote in You Are God’s Best Idea!: You can’t change the past – but you can change what it means to you! If you’re thinking: “Yeah – but what about what my past means to others?” Did Colonel Sanders care what people thought about this old man in all white with finger-lickin’ good fingers? He had a GREAT idea – a GREAT contribution to share. You can share your divine ideas or let them die with you. Most self-improvement classes and courses recommend journaling. I never have kept a journal– until now – basically – this is my journal. I have such a good memory that I never thought it would be necessary or purposeful to journal. I’ve changed my mind. With few exceptions – the great men and women we celebrate kept diary’s or journals. They chronicle their progress – and sometimes - decline. It is also a good way to tell you your own story.

The life you live is the story you tell. More to the point – the story you tell is the life you live. We are living our thoughts out loud. You can adjust these thoughts and beliefs if they are not working for you. If a person is living unconsciously – they are not even aware of what’s working and what isn’t. It is kind of like a person who can’t figure out what foods to eat when trying to lose weight. They eat mostly protein for a few days and the scale goes up. They then try lots of fruits and vegetables – and the scale doesn’t change. Keeping a food diary – what you ate – when you ate – how much you ate – can in time reveal the truth of what foods work for you and which ones don’t. (At least with weight management)

Don’t feel that you are cheating regarding raising your consciousness by taking and keeping notes. There are no rules – except the one that encourages you to love.

I was at the grocery store today and witnessed two exhibitions in levels of consciousness. The first one involved a cashier who walked past a dripping roof and two “Caution: Wet Floor” signs four times before she turned to an associate and asked: “Do we have a leaky roof”? How did she miss it? Simple – she wasn’t looking for it.

The second observation involved a little girl and her father who sat down in the café to have a sandwich. Five minutes into their lunch the girl pointed to a car in the parking lot and said: “Look Daddy – there’s our car.” A curious comment I initially thought. They arrived in that car. Why would she be surprised to see it? About ten minutes later this (I’m guessing 4 or 5 year-old) yelped: “Hey – there’s your car” – like it was a Unicorn.

After mulling over her comments for a few minutes - it occurred to me that this young child has only been conscious – in the way we think of consciousness – for 24 months or so. In her world – her awareness - she is used to looking outside the windows of her house and watching for when Daddy or Mommy come home. Maybe she watches through the pre-school or Kindergarten window and has the same thoughts. Even though she and her father drove to the store in that car – they were INSIDE the car. Inside the grocery store café’ – looking out that window and seeing the familiar family vehicle – she blurts out “There’s our car” – surprised to see it where it usually isn’t.

How often are we surprised by the obvious? You discover a new food; a fresh fabric; a different kind of movie or music experience. It starts with being OPEN to new adventures and being aware that these enterprises can and do exist inside your awareness – when you expand your world – and that starts with appreciation for all that is in this world - even what seems at first blush - flawed.

One of my early girlfriends was bi-polar. Her behavior was sometimes odd – other times frightening. Everybody saw this many weeks before I did. The things she said and how she said them triggered anxiety and concern in everyone except me. I didn’t see them. My focus was very narrow. She liked me! Eventually I broadened my view and saw the things that were a part of her psychosis. I also learned a few years ago that she had been the subject of neglect and abuse as a child. My consciousness of her has come full circle. I can see her again as a person who is divine and important – who has awakened to her illness – and has received the help she had needed for decades.

I encourage you – if you don’t already – to write down what it is you know and what you believe you know. Examine your life. There are things we simply don’t know - we don’t know. When I was five years-old – I thought that the songs I heard on the radio were being performed live in the radio station studios. From the 1920s through the 1940s – that was the way it was. Maybe I had see one of those old movie musicals and projected my movie experience into my five-year-old mind and thought that the Jackson 5 just hung around the WCOL studios in downtown Columbus and sang their hit - ABC - every other hour - just for me. As ridiculous as that idea is – it was my perception and therefore – my reality and experience. It was my level of consciousness at that age. In what ways do we as adults form perceptions that are just as silly because of a ritual or tradition – even a superstition – that has been passed down like a precious heirloom?

Be aware of what people would like for you to inherit. You don’t have to accept and parrot what they wrote for themselves. The only thing you need to accept is your inherent divinity and the only thing you need to write – is your triumphant story!

Let me give you an example of an illusion that might be easy to comprehend. There really is nothing other than outside. All the inside we experience is just the outside - under cover. I have always chuckled at the square footage idea in the world of Real Estate. One of the primary calculations for the price of a home is its square footage. If the going rate for a square foot in a given neighborhood is $150 – a 2500 square foot four-bedroom home is priced at $375,000.

Right next door, the 2200 square foot four-bedroom home is $330,000. Assuming that the lot sizes are the same – the first home is $45,000 more due to there being a bit more supplementary space - under cover. The walls are the same height – just spread a little farther apart. The actual cost for a construction company to cover more space is mostly in the foundation and roof. A little more wiring is needed and some extra pipe – but not $45,000 of additional material and labor. In other words – you are mostly paying for what is already there – God given outdoor space. Ironically – home buyers buy larger homes often to put more space BETWEEN the members of the family!

I believe that those of us who are Truth seekers – working at raising awareness and expanding consciousness are often just like the aforementioned abodes. As we expand our consciousness through practicing a variety of modalities and acquiring enlightening information – we really have done nothing more than push our problematic walls apart instead of taking them down to reveal the Truth that what is on the inside is – just covered outside. In addition to the good idea of pursuing centeredness – be aware that you might also be partitioning pain - just as we barricade ourselves from nature and her divinity; the wind; sun and rain. The pain needs to be honored for what it is and whatever purpose it has in bringing us to the point where we can let it go and lay it down. There is a thin line (or wall!) between obtaining a centered-higher consciousness and being cloistered from All that Is.

God is feral. Bet you never heard that one before! Just think about it. God likes the out-of-doors. That’s all she created. It was man who invented doors and walls and indoor plumbing. God is Wild Spirit! Look around and this fact is self-evident. This whole domestication bit is man-made. It is easier to slaughter and consume the fatted calf than it is to chase and gun down the wilder beast. We love animals but we’d rather gather them up in one place in order to view them from a few yards away a couple of times a decade - than vacation in Africa and go on a safari and create a lifetime of ferociously precious memories. We even bred the lion and wolf to the point they became the cat and dog. Life isn’t supposed to be a yap-yap-yap, meow-meow-meow affair. Too many people are living a life of Kibbles and Bits and missing the whole Enchilada!

Think outside the house; office and even – church. There is nothing more beautiful and divine inside the Sistine Chapel than what is right outside its celebrated entrance. And nothing Michelangelo ever produced with his hands was more divine as the sculptor from Tuscany himself. Today’s homework assignment is to read some Emerson or Thoreau.

There are some who believe that all there is - is an illusion – a hologram that we can play and have fun with. I haven’t decided if that idea is true or just an illusion itself. But I do know that it sure beats the hell of out computer generated virtual worlds that occupy so much of our time. If we are not careful – we are going to turn ourselves into Russian Nesting Dolls – turning so far in that even when we do break down the facades – we’re still not sure if we have found God’s great big beautiful Universe – the one without palisades - where there is nothing to refrain from.

Unframe yourself! Create your own pictures – visions without barriers. Breathe in the fresh air. Open the door first.

Today was a day I just didn’t want to get out from under the covers. It is cold outside – warm and toasty on the inside. I was consciously awake at 8; 10; 12 and finally managed to sit up on the edge of the bed and meditate for another 10 to 15 minutes at 1:30pm. By the way – I don’t retire until about 4am so it isn’t like I’m sleeping for 10 or 12 hours – but there are times that the comforts of the covers seem more inviting than the dawning of a new day – or in my case – lunchtime!

While I was going in and out of consciousness I was dreaming about people and places I haven’t seen in years. What was really odd was that I was seeing their children – whom I have never seen and in some cases - don’t even exist- yet! They were talking to me like they had always known of me – but this was the first meeting. I am not a dream interpreter but I surmise that this has to do with the fact that I haven’t been back to Ohio to see family in almost five years. There are new living and breathing Holzmeier descendants I have yet to behold. Part of the reason we have not made a trip back home is because of the discomfort I have sometimes with travel; finances; and being a July baby – I like to withdraw inside my shell where it seems safe. This comfort comes at a price. There are things I’m missing – like my grand nieces and nephews.

What is it in your life you are not beholding because you prefer the comforts of home- or in the case of the opening epigram – your bed? What are you hiding? What are you covering up? Maybe it is more like we are hiding FROM something? Probably both!

I am reading a wonderful book written by former Harvard Law grad Tama Kieves. The book is This Time I Dance. She – like me – decided that the work she was doing (Lawyer-ing) was not her true life’s passion. She is a writer. A poet – and she knew it. But how does one get out from under the giant comforter known as a Harvard Law degree and the prestige and compensation that comes along with it – to embark on the life of (at least for a while) a struggling artist? In my case - I was thrown from the bridge - it was sink or swim. My decision was - and from time to time – still is - whether to go back to working in day-to-day radio broadcasting. I am trusting the process that what I am doing – writing and teaching – will manifest a radio opportunity that allows me to do all that I love and change the world (by changing myself) at the same time.

Tama chronicles her successful journey in her book. We found each other on Twitter. We formed a little mutual admiration society. This is good as long as what you mutually admire – is admirable! She has read my book and written a lovely endorsement. As I read Tama’s prose – it is evident that we have been touched by a similar gift in our abilities to turn a phrase – form an idea – and deliver a revelation in one powerful sentence. Here’s an example:

The Divine is using Tama to enlighten her area of influence. This can happen to you too – but you must agree to get out from under the covers of convention; tradition; protocol; familial expectations; peer pressure; doubt and fear.

The one thing that truly haunts us – is being spooked by our potential. Once you realize that the bumps in the night just might be the divine nudge of your heart encouraging you to share the song you dream to sing – the Universe will help you uncover all the gifts you want to exchange.

There are several inches of fresh fallin’ snow on the ground as I type these words – several inches higher where the winds have given it a kiss. I’m not a big fan of snow.

Snow represents winter to me. Not a big fan of winter. I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s in central Ohio – near Columbus. Although this may be an exaggerated childhood memory - I swear there were winters where once the first snow fell around Thanksgiving – my neighborhood resembled Antarctica until Easter. This meant lots of slipping and sliding walking to and from school and I wasn’t the most coordinated kid to begin with. Our house was a bit on the drafty side, too. Maybe I still haven’t gotten over the infamous Blizzard of ’78 when the entire family huddled together close to the fireplace for days! (And there was no hot or cold running water – if you know what I mean!)

There certainly are some positive memories associated with wintertime. There was some frolicking and sled rides – but lots of snowballs to the face and snotty noses. I just don’t do the wintertide well. There are just as many other people who live for the post harvest. They love the things that you can only do those three or four months of the year. They may even have businesses that are associated and dependent on snow and lots of it!

The guys and gals who drive the city snow plows are doing what they get paid to do today – for the first time since last February! This is a great day for them. Imagine having your vocation and joy tied to the weather? In SE Washington the Cascades block most of the precipitation from the Tri Cities. We get an average of seven inches of precipitation a year here. It is very dry – and I like it. There are over 300 days of sunshine where I live. So – weather-wise – I am a happy camper most of the time.

Today – there are thousands of area kids who are getting a lovely day off of school. In my youth – a day like this would have meant building snowmen and ice castles. Not sure I see anything like that as I glance up and down Emerald Drive Lane. With the snow - there is opportunity today – a frosty-flaky convenience that won’t require a bowl and a spoon nor add inches to your waistline. Will it be missed – as hopes of a quick thaw overshadow the gift that blanketed us today?

Snow is just a variation on the divine theme that is known as weather - a part of God – a reminder that the Creator is still creating with or without our participation or gratitude. There’s a purpose to all that is - whether (no pun intended) we embrace or resist it. Today’s snow is just as True as yesterday’s sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures. The conditions were so mild I could have taken a long spring-like walk – but did not – missing that offering altogether. And isn’t that what all of this is about – accepting these glorious benefactions? They have to be recognized as such first.

Even weather that seems horrific – like Hurricanes and Tornadoes – are necessary effects that have beneficial effect. It is all energy and it is moving in and out of form all the time. We know that Hurricanes are the way Mother Earth cools herself. When opposing weather fronts meet in the middle - storms unfold. The wind knocks the old and dead branches from the trees – making room for the new. The accompanying rain bathes and renews and flows to the rivers and seas we immortalize in song and prose. It is all Good and all God.

Maybe today’s snow is the Universe nudging me to come out and play? Maybe this is God’s way of saying – before you shovel me to the side in disgust – pick me up – notice how not a single flake is exactly like the other. Pack and form me into One. Notice how all those individual flakes crystallize into the One - with just a little attention and intention? Notice me – before sister wind and brother sun move me along.

Come on – let’s play – I promise – it’ll be pleasing. Who knows - maybe you'll even see a Snow Angel?

Learned (pronounced lur-nid) is an interesting word. It not only means someone who is knowledgeable - but also a person who is connected – or involved with the pursuit of knowledge. Even the word knowledgeable suggests you are knowledge-able. The teacher must be just as willing and able to acquire and disseminate revelation as the pupil is in receiving truth.

You could usually tell which of your teachers were relying on what they had learned long ago and those who were sharing their latest epiphanies. It is the difference between being curious and customary. There is a time and place for both – but I’ll choose the former nine times out of ten - even though I’ve heard it has a high mortality rate for cats.

So far - on this 366 day journey we are taking together – I have, more often than not, been inspired to write the Daily Epigram and Coaching Lesson based from something I experienced in the previous day. Sometimes I even pen a brand new gram! I’ve got 800 unused epigrams I could employ for this series – that’s two and half years of base material - but I am often spurred to write something fresh because I just can’t wait to share something new. After all – I assume you have already read my book – it would be a waste of time just to cut and paste from my manuscript. Hmmm – how many of us are living today in a cut and paste way? You know what happens to copies – they run out of ink and begin to fade.

As you might remember – I write backwards. Ideas come to me – I try to encapsulate the thought in a one sentence epigram – then I flesh out a paragraph or two from it. It’s kind of like making the dough first and then deciding how the cookies are going to look. Not cookie-cutter – Cookie Creations!

I met a new friend this week that has a background in the same mystic philosophy. He told me that Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote; “quote yourself”. I think he was referring to this quotation: “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Emerson – along with Ernest Holmes - are my two favorite author-philosophers. I’ve had more than one person on Twitter and one on Facebook scold me for quoting myself. The suggestion is that it is somehow unbecoming. I beg to differ. I don’t buy a ticket to see the group Chicago sing Boston songs and I wouldn’t attend a concert where the Beach Boys performed Boyz-II-Men tunes. There’s nothing wrong with interpretations from another’s source material – Wayne Dyer wrote a book based on the wisdom of Lao Tse – but Wayne’s book is four times as long as The Tao – which means there was a healthy portion of Dr. Dyer’s insight that made the book something more than just an impersonation.

This may seem like an essay on originality – and that theme will be present in almost everything I share – yet the real nudge today is to progress and expand. If you can accomplish this through meditation and sitting under the Bodhi tree like Buddha – then sit right down! If it easier to open up a book – let’s turn some pages. As Mark Twain said – (yes I do sometimes quote the greats) “A man who won’t read has no advantage over one who can’t read.” The key in reading the works of the masters is to be INSPIRED by them to trigger the divine inner essence in you – to express something else. A teacher who isn’t doing this is simply going to run out of inspiring new instruction.

Today’s Coaching Lesson is encouragement to be curious. Continue to expand; express and grow so you’ll be – literally – IN the KNOW. Look – listen – read and write. Sit in front of a computer and compose the article that others will read and quote from.

Although it is true there is basically one thing I profess: You are divine and important – needed and necessary – loved and the Beloved; how you can use the message and the Power that is associated with it – is what I am learning each and every day – and thus - is what I can share and teach – with every new morn.

Rise and shine. You are learned - knowledge-able. You are on a pursuit of Truth– and with every Revelation - you bring nobility to your Professions!

What good are you?

I swear I heard that a thousand times as a kid. And it was not a “good” sign when it was asked - because it was really more of a statement than a question. I thought we could have some fun breaking this simple question into metaphysical parts. Want to give it a go?

“WHAT – good are you?” Emphasizing the first word in this question changes the context completely. All of a sudden it becomes a question of curiosity – almost anticipation! Indeed – WHAT – or WHICH “good” do you represent? (Inquiring minds want to know) You see – it is All good because it is All God and God – is self-existent Good.

WHAT – good are you - is something we are all trying to figure out when we suggest we are struggling to find our purpose. As I have written – YOU ARE the PURPOSE. The purpose is Love. Now – we get to bottle and serve up our particular brand of Love. (You only go around once in life so grab all the Douglas you can get/Not too Doug – Not too Holzmeier/ It’s Douglas Time!) But not everyone is buying. Which is most likely their problem but in fairness – it could be your problem. Are you sharing your Love unconditionally - or do people have to chase it down with salt and lime in order to avoid bitter mug (Doug) face?

The Good you are to the world can take many shapes and forms as you grow and evolve your unique expressions of inner inherent divinity. The closer these expressions are to the Truth of your eternal Being– the Lighter and Fulfilling they will be. You are “What” is good – and your WHAT (Love) is good. The purer your wellspring – the more people will desire to drink from it. This is where we can meditate and go within and ask for clarity of Mind and Soul.

“What GOOD – are you?” This is closer to the regular use of this insensitive phrase. Someone is essentially saying you are not good for much. This is NOT true at all! You are the same Good as everyone else – how much of this Good you make known could be at the heart of the question. Don’t save your Good/Love; share your Love/Good. If you insist on guarding your reservoir – your well will grow stagnant instead of helping raise someone’s self-esteem.

“What good ARE – you?” You BE so you IS – and all that is – is Good. There really is no antonym to the word - are. Regardless of where you are on your path to enlightenment – you’ve got to know that you are not only good for SOME-thing – you are the SUM-THING. You are the sum of All Good. Try living up to that – because you ARE that!

“What good are – YOU?” You are Divine and Important – Needed and Necessary – Loved and the Beloved: You Are God’s Best Idea! (That’s Who!)

A better question may be: Do you LOVE what you are? Do you love WHAT you are? Do you love what YOU are? Do you love what you ARE? Do you love THAT you are? If you have lived under the illusion that you were good for nothing because people kept asking what you were good for – then you may have had some doubts. Doubt is the hesitation that disheartens the Angels. You have an Angel! You have a Spirit Guide. You are not alone. You have the Essence of the Creator of the Universe as close as your Consciousness.

What are you good FOR? Now this IS a powerful question. You are good for all those whom you meet and all whom meet them and all whom meet them and the many you’ll never meet or know but whom you will have positively LOVED when you began sharing your Good – your Love – freely with others - oh so long ago. (I know you have!)

Today’s Life Coaching Lesson is -You are Good For Love – and that is Good Enough – because you are Enough. Yes – what almost everyone wants to know is: Am I Good Enough? You are the Good that Is. You are the Love that Is. Yes – You Are This and That Good!

backstage pass for a meet and greet?"-Douglas Holzmeier

Typically - before or after every concert - something called a meet & greet is held. The concert’s headliner agrees to see a select number of people (VIPs) who get coveted backstage passes to meet the singer and have a photograph taken with the star. The persons who make it behind the curtain as it were - are usually people who have connections. They know someone at the venue; the record company; the area’s most significant record store (Do they exist anymore?); fan club presidents and radio contest winners - chaperoned by a personality or program director.

Backstage passes are gold for a radio station and its listeners! Anybody can buy or give tickets away to a show – but radio stations are among the precious few entities that can get all access passes and can make dreams come true. An artist performs for 20,000 people - but only 10 to 20 concert goers will get to hang out with the band after (or before) the show. Frankly – these behind-the-scene opportunities are really no more than drive-bys with quick salutations and a snapshot. But for the select few who experience them – it’s a moment they’ll never forget.

I found that the bigger the star – the more gracious they are. The Prima Donna behavior is more common from the act that is climbing fast who will find the backside of fame just as fleeting if they don’t begin practicing the Golden Rule. My most favorite backstage experiences were with Pat Benatar; Amy Grant; Celine Dion; Phil Collins; Bob Seger; Hall & Oates; Trisha Yearwood; the Righteous Brothers; Beach Boys; Chicago and Elton John. I won’t mention the negative experiences because none of those artists have had a hit in the past decade anyway! As you know – people rarely remember what you do but they ALWAYS remember how you made them feel. Don’t make people feel like a prop in your play when they really have a starring role – even if it’s to admire the star that you are.

The life coaching lesson today is that – since you are the star of the show that is known as YOU – you should treat yourself to a meet & greet. Meet the True YOU – the Divine you – and I promise – the part of you who is most closely related to God – will make you feel at home; will manifest all the pictures you can imagine and sign their name across your heart.

You are a VIP. You have connections. You are connected. Take yourself back – bring a few friends – it’ll be nice to see you again.

Have you ever witnessed a meltdown? I have – my own! I grew up in a house of 10: Mom and Dad – plus eight children. There were always at least two dogs and a cat in the house as well. Being heard was hard. There were lots of tantrums. All the wheels were squeaking – day and night.

I vowed that my house was never going to be that way. We (Denise and Daniel) speak to each other with respect and in appropriate tones. No name calling - no slings and no arrows. It doesn’t mean we don’t express our views and disagreements – we just don’t make it personal. We tone it down. We take it a step further. We make it a joke.

Whenever the tension rises above a certain point – a release valve automatically triggers – it is usually my wife’s sense of humor. She knows it takes two to tango and when she doesn’t like where the music is taking us – she changes the tune. You may not believe me but in our 30 year relationship – we have had one angry exchange.

It is just unacceptable to fight in our house. We don’t see each other as foes.

This should be the way it always is - but there are places and situations where we find fault and create enemies that are ready and willing to engage in hostility. This can be in an civic organization; a church (pray tell!); the neighborhood and the most popular place for conflict – the office!

Hierarchies have built in resentment. Organizational charts should be burned! Organizational charts say YOU have to listen to HIM - but not to HER – except when it pertains to THIS – and occasionally THAT – but only when HE decides THEY can’t handle what WE had decided to tell THEM. There needs to be a leader – but everyone under the leader is an important part of the team that should be focused on supporting one another and producing results. Instead – many workplaces are 3rd grade classes on steroids - where the objective isn’t to learn and graduate – but to burn and agitate. Slings and Arrows.

But as we know with the Law of Attraction – what you send out returns – multiplied. Even in a moment of what may seem like a reasonable self defense – the insult earned – pivots and injures. This is a tough one. It isn’t wrong to stick up for yourself and defend your record – but waste no time explaining because to most ears – it sounds like complaining. I am presently reading a number of books about illusions and perceptions. Like all of our senses – we perceive and decode input with our sensory apparatus (ears/eyes/etc) and our brains: Signals; Frequencies and Vibrations. We do not all like the taste of watermelon or broccoli. We do not all perceive colors. Some people see things that are not there and other people don’t see what is there. But we are all sensing vibrations and it is our individual (and collective) consciousness that determines what we believe we experience. (Following?)

When a person is “explaining” why they have been shortchanged or disrespected – the VIBRATION is the same as when you are angry. In other words – you may have launched an EXPLANATION arrow but the POINT is still as sharp as the HATE or HURT arrow and may do just as much damage. This is a lesson in taming our self righteousness. This is why it is better to be the mature and civil person in the face of incivility.

You can dispatch “right” angled arrows all day and all night but most of them cast you as the problem and set in motion the firing squad. Aim higher!

They wouldn’t call it impossible if it was easy. Although – metaphysically – we understand that it is all right here and right now – even the best metaphysicians appreciate the Quaker axiom to “treat and move your feet”.

For every story of someone being discovered by a Hollywood agent in the corner Malt Shop - there are 10,000 who made it by will and determination and ignored every Caution; Yield; Stop; and Detour sign they encountered along the highway to reach their desired destination.

In Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers, he debunks the notion that the Beatles were an inevitable phenomenon. (How’s that for an oxymoron?) It was always assumed that when you combined the collective talents of a McCartney – Lennon – Harrison and Starr - they just had to become what they became – the most popular and influential rock group of all time. Gladwell writes, however, that the Beatles performed in near obscurity for several years - including Hamburg, Germany. Typically they’d start playing in the early evening (most notably at the Cavern Club) and not stop until the wee hours of the morning. Gladwell estimates that between 1957 and 1963 – John; Paul; George – and eventually Ringo – rehearsed; practiced and played - over 10,000 hours before they recorded their initial British hits in 1962/1963. (Thus his 10,000 Hour Rule) And it was another year before they became an overnight sensation when we were introduced to them on the Ed Sullivan Show: February 9th, 1964.

You most certainly will have many stops and pauses along the many miles to your ultimate destination as you develop your message; sharpen your skills and meet the people who shall fill your tank up with encouragement. The important thing is to remember where you’re going and the mission’s objective.

How many temptations did the Fab Four have to avoid keeping from stopping somewhere along the way and settling for success on a local or regional level? Even after hitting the top of the charts in Britain – all the U.S. record labels passed on picking up and releasing their material here – including EMI’s American distributor – Capitol. Passing on the Beatles? Impossible!

Yes – record companies are notorious for settling on imitations of originals to make a fast buck. In 1963 – most record labels were looking for more of what they already knew and had – Doo Wop. Even the Beach Boys - who were way ahead of their time -looked like a barbershop quartet compared to the raucous image and sounds of the Beatles. There’s a cliche that goes like this: “People don’t know what they like - but they like what they know. “

What people know they like - is what you see at every off ramp on every highway in every town across the U.S.A. Fast food restaurants. And there’s nothing wrong with hamburger joints. (Unless you’re a vegetarian) And if you believe you can build a better hamburger – like Dave Thomas did with Wendy’s – then go right ahead and serve one up! But if you want to express your inherent divinity and serve the world in a way that makes it a better place to be – then think outside the bun! Pass on by success that is deep fried and heavily salted and give us something unique and original - which may be an acquired taste – but one that people will savor long after the ice melts in their Coca-Cola.

In recent months I have received and viewed one “get rich quick” pitch after another. I get a lot of email from marketers who swear they have my answer to financial freedom. To get their answer I need only pay them $997; $1997; $9997 or $15,997. (In just three easy payments!) This is their way of getting rich quick. They got off the freeway well before Probable and Possible and ran out of inspiration at Impetuous. They want success the free way. And there ain’t no such thing. There is a minimum amount of investment and it starts with your heart.

I do not know if Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000 Hour Rule means that your success is a 10,000 Mile adventure. But I do know it starts with a first step. My commission is to share the mystic idea of inherent divinity. That you are divine and important – needed and necessary – loved and the Beloved: You Are God’s Best Idea! My goal is to pull people away from life’s impetuous dead ends – turn them around and direct them toward living the Undeniable Life. I believe I can do that and make a lovely living doing so. It means that I will pass by the exit that shouts Probable Success and even the one that hints at Possible Success to reach the one that welcomes all who believe in their dreams – the one that reads:

You Are God's Best Idea! Daily Epigram for: January 12, 2012

When I wrote this epigram I was picturing all those closed doors I witnessed at my last four jobs. A mentor of mine told me a long time ago that you can always tell how successful a radio station is by how often the bosses’ door is closed. There’s no need to lock the door to chat about the weather.

A manager who is managing well is leading with Truth. Truth doesn’t need camouflaged. Discussions held behind closed doors are conversations about why someone or something has failed and it is usually the one who has failed who doesn’t want to be heard passing the buck. I can honestly say I almost never closed my office door. If someone is under-performing - I go to where they are and share what is not up to par; how it needs to change and that I will help them every step of the way. They also get a chance to tell me if they feel I am speaking the Truth as they know it.

As I mentioned in a previous lesson – those who have acquired artificial power – not inherent Power – but the kind ego celebrates and needs in order to feel good – will conspire and scheme to hold onto the illusions of aggrandizement. This is always done behind closed doors. The flip side of the same conspiracy coin is - silence - when making noise is not only appropriate - but necessary!

No one articulated the damage done by cowardice better than Martin Luther King:

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”

“Never, never - be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

When you are in a position of earthly power – as far as I’m concerned - the idea is to empower people – and that requires open doors! If you are confident in your ability - share your blessings with others. You can mentor; teach and coach. It is what I now do.

I’ve opened up my Life Coaching practice. There are times that I need to teach, other times when I consult. A Coach is best when they ask a client questions that will help them reveal to themselves the answers that reside within. Sometimes I just need to be a cheerleader. The idea is to unveil the spiritual Truth of their being – they are perfect, whole and complete and they absolutely can manifest their best because they are God’s Best Idea!

But communicating Truth shouldn’t be done behind a closed door in hushed whispers. It should be discovered and shouted on mountaintops! (Cue Julie Andrews!!)

Meet and greet the answers you seek – and share them openly and lovingly with good cheer.

You Are God's Best Idea! Daily Epigram for: January 11, 2012

This week I saw where a friend announced he is now engaged. My assumption is that soon – if not already – he and his bride-to-be have circled a date for their blessed day. In other words – they have given their dream of Holy matrimony an aspiration date.

I wrote about this idea in You Are God’s Best Idea! I used the story of Brad Paisley as my example of someone who had a grand dream – to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Many of the locals snickered – rather loudly. I know – I was there at the time he launched his first album and the naysayers were neighing. But you see – Brad prepared for the unfolding of his aspirations. He enrolled in Belmont University, a college with specialized courses for those who aspire to make a living in the music industry, after his first two years at nearby West Liberty.

Brad was playing music for audiences from the time he was 10 years-old in the Wheeling, WV area. His grandfather gave him a small guitar at age 8. He got some great advice from grandpa who told him that part of his appeal was because he was a cute kid with a guitar and that wasn’t always going to be the case. He was going to have to earn his applause as he got older. As Brad notes in his bio: “Pretty soon, I was performing at every Christmas party and Mother's Day event they'd come up with.”

Playing came natural for Paisley although any true musician will tell you that no matter your acumen, if you don’t practice regularly, you can go from the best in the world to pedestrian within weeks. Brad Paisley wasn’t a prodigy at singing. It wasn’t unusual for him to be a bit off pitch several times per performance. This may have fueled the doubt of fools – but not a person who has set an aspiration date. As I wrote in the Divine Aspirations chapter: A sour note is just a reminder to sweeten the tune, not to doubt the song.

Brad was writing songs for his second album four years before he recorded and released his first! Both albums (Who Needs Pictures and Part II) were essentially written and recorded back-to-back. That’s inspiration and aspiration! I am doing the exact same thing. I wrote You Are God’s Best Idea! with the idea that there would be a II and a III. I’ve already outlined 70 new Divine Acceptations for the sequels. There are a half dozen chapters fully written and the material your reading now is planned to become a 365 Day tutorial on Living the Undeniable Life as well. That’s three additional books in the works with tentative aspiration dates set.

Turn your inspiration into aspiration and set a date for what you contemplate. Just as it is with marriage – you must engage your goals and dreams and let the Universe know you have True Intention to put a ring on it!

Speaking of rings – Brad Paisley fell in love with the idea of marrying Kimberly Williams from the Father of the Bride movies while in an Ohio Valley Theater (one I used to go to all the time) in 1995. In 2003 – he fell in love with Kimberly –they got engaged and married. They have two additional manifestations, boys, Huck and Jasper.

Almost forgot – Brad was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on February 17th, 2001. A letter written by George Jones was read that said: “I am counting on you to carry on the tradition—and make folks sit up and listen to what good country music should sound like.”

I feel it is important to front load the first month of these life lessons with instruction and inspiration that will shift you internally in order to move you externally. There is a human inclination to see successful people as having something extra you lack. You see a superstar and mumble something along the lines of, “Well of course they are at the top – they are naturally (fill in the blank) talented; beautiful; handsome; intelligent; charismatic; etc “– as if this was always so.

All of us have been blessed with a variety of talents – how much we develop and exercise our inherent genius is up to us. You probably know John Tesh – the nationally syndicated radio show host. John was a successful sportscaster for CBS in the early1980s and was a host for Entertainment Tonight from 1986 to 1996. If that wasn’t enough – John wrote the instantly recognizable anthem for the NBA on NBC along with several other TV sports themes.

In the late 1980s John asked Yanni if he could play some shows with him. Although he only performed 12 concerts – Tesh caught the performing bug and started recording his own music shortly thereafter. In the mid-1990s - John scored several hit songs on Adult Contemporary (Lite Rock) radio including a duet with James Ingram – “Give Me Forever (I Do)”. Because John wasn’t spiritually satisfied with the degree of fame and fortune that came with being a national network television anchor and personality; John Tesh gave us his inspirational music and – more.

I have spoken to John on the phone and met him in person. He is a man of great faith. The thing is – sharing your faith is not encouraged while covering the Tour de France; the Olympics or reporting on Jennifer Anniston’s love life. John wanted to serve people and help them live the best possible life. It is interesting that John was at a competing Nashville TV station at the time another budding young superstar-to-be was sharpening her chops before changing the world – Oprah Winfrey.

In 2003, John Tesh entered my world of broadcast radio. The John Tesh “Intelligence for Your Life” Radio Show has been on the air for almost a decade on over 400 radio stations – that’s 14.2 million listeners a week! You can literally feel your IQ rise while listening to the show – as well as your consciousness. Although it is done with a soft touch – John Tesh’s love for his fellow man comes through as strongly as his famous baritone voice.

John has never rested on his laurels. He has taken risks and gone beyond traditional bonds and bounds. He has won 6 Emmys; 4 gold albums; 2 Grammy nominations; and an Associated Press award for investigative journalism. He’s sold over 8 million records and his live concerts have raised over 20 Million Dollars for PBS. He is a favorite guest among the late night television shows and - Oh yeah – he’s married to Connie Sellecca!

Like John Tesh decided - whatever you have done up to now does not necessarily have to define what you are ever going to do – what to do next – or next year. You can build on your past accomplishments or you can do something wholly new and unrelated. What is most important is that it is a strong and divine desire and one – if brought to fruition – will serve and inspire others while it brings you great Joy – from within!

Security comes from going beyond certainty – where all the divine ideas await your exploration and discovery.

What is a winner? Who is a loser? If you would have asked just about anyone three years ago which personality in American sport best exemplified the definition of winner, Tiger Woods would have been on the tip of every tongue. No one was better at what he did for a living – professional golf – than Tiger Woods. Some were even saying he was going to surpass Jack Nicklaus as the greatest golfer of all time. But a funny thing happened on the way to the Grand Slam – Mr. Woods got slammed dunked!

Tiger hasn’t had nearly as much fun in recent years due to poor personal choices that not only dismantled his marriage and family – but sucked much of the magic from his once miraculous golf game. British Opens are no substitute for broken hearts – and he hasn’t won the Open since 2006. How could someone so precise in choosing what club to use to hit a little white ball from 250 yards – be so careless so close to home? Is it possible that we treat what we’ve already won as something we’ve already done?

The fact that Tiger Woods cheated on his wife and family is not the only story - Tiger – as I’m sure he’d be the first to tell you – cheated himself. He not only blew up what he loved – but he did it so cheaply. Tiger sullied his reputation and compromised his career. In other words – he took his eye off the ball. In the famous words of Ty Webb, played by Chevy Chase in the 1980 comedy, Caddyshack, “be the ball”. Or as we say in the spiritual realm: Be the Love that You Are! This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have fun – but you can have your fun and be dedicated to what you love and the ones you love. Life isn’t measured by treasures acquired, but by the love you’ve inspired.

The great thing about the Universe is that it offers Mulligan’s! I believe that Life is Love and Love is God – therefore – God is Life. As long as you are breathing – you’re participating. As long as you’re engaged in the game – why not have some fun? Is Tiger having fun? Not as much as he used to have because he doesn’t end his day wrapped in the arms of those who were most important to him. He will again someday because Tiger is a winner – not as a result of playing golf way under par – but by virtue of his divinity - a child of the most high.

Remember who you really are and what really counts: Love. And that’s something worth a round of applause!

There isn’t a single person on the face of the Earth who has the first dollar they ever earned. The richest and most successful in America have made and lost money – even millions – several times. You lose what you have - if you don’t give what you’ve got.

The first bit of advice I was ever given when I began my radio career was – Be Bold. Truth be told, I really didn’t follow that advice enough. As is often the case – even when we do achieve success – we immediately go into a defensive posture in order to hold on to what we got. Regrettably – from what I have seen - a person that works their way up the corporate ladder and receives the six-figure-salary spends most of their time conspiring to keep it. They stop being the risk taking winner that catapulted their climb and commence seeing everyone and every circumstance as a potential threat to their kingdom. These rulers rarely reign for long as they imagine and multiply adversaries in their mind where Consciousness is more than obliging to show us what we think we know.

The most infamous of these kinds of personalities were Howard Hughes and Richard Nixon - but their kind of rise and fall plays out on every human level. I call it the Daffy Duck syndrome. (Mine, all mine!) As I wrote in You Are God’s Best Idea! – the superstars in the music industry that I knew were the most generous with their time and attention. I have photos with me and Celine Dion; Lionel Richie; Bob Seger; Elton John and many others – and none of them look disinterested in little ole me. The so-called Diva’s in our world reached a pinnacle and faded quickly. If they are fortunate – they will hold onto a small but faithful fan base who likes worshiping divas. These ego-centric types are the people who draw paychecks by being the butt of jokes on all those horrific celebrity reality shows. They are trading on their 15 minutes of fame from the 1970s or 1980s. Fame is fleeting – authenticity is eternal.

I guess I am mixing my messages and metaphors so bear with me. Don’t worry about what people think or say about you. Do what you love and do it often! Live your affections, not your resentments. Don’t allow time for distractions. I had to laugh when I saw the Pixar movie Up! The dog – Doug – was so easily distracted. I lived my life like that for the better part of 45 years. I was on the fast track to great success in the radio business but I offered too much precious time to triviality and frivolity. I had a ton of fun – but just a little more networking and a little less pasta would have manifested a larger salary and a smaller waistline.

It is okay to experience a little discomfort. It’s good for you. Change is almost always slightly uncomfortable. But like a new pair of shoes – you and the shoe adjust to each other. Yes – there are no guarantees that the success you manifest is going to remain the same. In fact – the guarantee is that it WILL NOT remain the same. And that is just fine. Charles Dickens gave us many great literary works that were well received and just as many that were not. And the ones that were well loved were also criticized and the ones that were hated were beloved by some. Regardless – they were the expressions of a person who was no more divine or favored than you.

Develop an abundant mind-set. Know – just like the Lilies of the Field – you are being divinely provided for. During the 16 months I have been “laid off” from what was my primary means of making a living – radio – I have received assistance in the form of a new TV; a washer and dryer; my son’s first year of tuition covered and an ever increasing number of Social Media followers which have resulted in associated book sales and speaking engagements. Just yesterday – because I was open and aware – I came across an avenue to promote my work while helping to promote the work of others that will almost certainly give rise to a large amount of exposure for my book and more importantly – its message of inherent divinity.

If I would have allowed doubt and trepidation from my employment situation to be my primary focus – I would have lain off my dreams and you would not be reading and being inspired and directed by my work. Your job is not the source of your Good! The Universe is. I call the Universe and Its Good – God, but you can call it what you want. The Universe rewards action no matter what name you give It.

Act boldly! Go for broke – and if your bank account breaks a few times along the way - it’s still okay. Like a muscle you exercise that tears a little with every lift – when you build it back up – it will be larger and stronger the next time. Be bold – be brave – the only thing you are taking with you when you die is your divinity and the enlarged and enlightened consciousness you developed here.

It’s time to break through!

"If you don't have enough time for your Good - it is going to get up and Go!"-Douglas Holzmeier

Are you ever really surprised when someone or some-thing decides to get up and go from your life? I learned in the world of marketing and promotion that people go where they are invited. It is why McDonald's and Coca-Cola are so successful. It isn’t because they are the best restaurant or soft drink – but they are, generally, among the best and most consistent marketers. They spend a ton of money inviting people to their party and keep that party going as long as they can. They produce a product (or service) that delivers the expectations of their consumers. As their consumers have aged – Coca-Cola and McDonald's have added products or services that appeal to the upper end of their partisans by adding, in the case of McDonald's, a line of premium coffee drinks and Coke supplemented Diet Coke (which was always a zero calorie version of the disastrous New Coke) with a true diet version of the Classic Coke flagship in the guise of Coke Zero. In other words – they don’t take their most important asset – YOU – for granted!

Most relationships are built and maintained in a similar manner. There is the initial attraction followed by a symbiotic and mutually beneficial association. For the partnership to remain viable - one party or the other goes beyond the call of duty and the opposite entity shows an appropriate amount of appreciation. If at any point, one or the other in this relationship – be it a romantic union or business affiliation – rescinds their energy or enthusiasm for the accord – consciously or subconsciously – the end begins. Before your Good is Gone – you will have had ample opportunity to wake up and reestablish the connection. In business – you see gross sales falling off month after month. In a human liaison – the dissension may be characterized by some nights where you are sleeping facing in opposite directions – later – by one camping on the couch!

When you take God’s gifts and blessings for granted – if the gift has volition of its own – it will eventually grant you a release. (Metaphysically this will happen even with inanimate objects because, as we know, everything is in motion) This will be expedited if you add insult to injury in the form of criticizing your object of affection’s best attributes. In other words – if your significant other is a great singer and you complain when they sing – not only do you silence their spirit – you lose their song.

How many times have we drawn our Good to us only to send it packing when we placed an arbitrary rule; policy or petty pet peeve (don’t bother me when the game is on; don’t help too much at work; you haven’t paid your dues) ahead of Truth?

I knew of a minister who was fortunate to have a brilliant musician who wrote and performed beautiful and original music at services on Sundays. This new minister wanted this divine creator of fresh expressions to learn and perform – frankly – crappy songs from the denomination’s songbook. He didn’t comply and there was a parting of ways. It is now four years later and the Church in question has never been able to fill the void left by this separation and has lost more than half its congregation. The musician no longer performs in a house of God.

If you find yourself already in possession of God’s bounty – hold your treasure close to your chest – don’t throw it overboard because its brilliance blinds you.

Remember – they are God’s Best Idea, too.

You Are God's Best Idea! Daily Epigram for: January 6, 2012

If you can wrap your mind around this one idea – you’ll spend less time pondering your place in the Universe and more time recalling your Authenticity. You are true. You are Truth. You were born true. There is nothing you have to do to be more veritable than you are.

When a baby is born we collectively sigh and marvel at the wonder and miracle a new born is. We don’t spend a millisecond thinking we are gazing upon an imperfect creation that needs our divine intervention to keep it from morphing into a Cabbage Patch Kid. We instinctively know and intuitively understand this is what it is all about: God begetting Love Begetting Life – forever unfolding and expanding with and through expanding consciousness.

The substance that is you was here to unfold you from Alpha. The egg and the seed came not only from divine beings (parents) but the divine beings came from the only substances that have ever been – God stuff. We call this stuff minerals and vitamins and nutrients and cells and DNA and protons and neutrons and God knows what else (literally) and it is all the fabric of Creation.

And the most fascinating thing about this stuff of Spirit is – almost all of It - is space. It may seem like empty space to the eye (and even the microscope) but it is far from nothingness. It is everythingness. (Did I just invent a new word?) Two days in a row I came across information regarding the iffyness (Did I just invent another new word?) of the Big Bang Theory. Einstein believed in a static Universe. He believed the Universe sort of, kind of, always was. He reluctantly ceded that position when it seemed as if there was proof that the Universe was expanding - but that accepted fact is coming more and more into question. Not that it matters – because almost all Matter – is space – Spirit!

My favorite definition of God is self-existent good. Scientists and theologians agree on this one thing, whatever is, is self existent. Even the something from nothing idea means that the nothing was REALLY something. It may have been empty to the eye – just as your hand is when viewed from a high-powered microscope – but the stuff of Spirit – the undeniable stuff of dreams that manifests Itself ad infinitum with and through Consciousness – Is there and HERE. And this stuff – so ineffable that I struggle to create coherent sentences to describe it – is born True – from Self Existence – and is very Good.

It is YOU.

You Are God's Best Idea! Daily Epigram for: January 5, 2012

As you probably can tell – I love words. I love stringing them together the way a person who paints must get a kick out of combining colors on a palate and then assigning them a place on the canvas to create a divine expression.

For 31 years I performed radio shows – six shows a week – 50 weeks a year. Let’s do the math: 6 x 50 x 30 = 9000. Wow! I have performed in the neighborhood of 9000 shows in my career. And each one of the shows was four to six hours long. So let’s multiply the number of shows time five hours: 45,000 on the air hours! For 45,000 hours I was the main speaking voice coming through radios in markets all over the country over 30 years and I have less than 10 hours of those shows recorded and archived.

One of the reasons I like writing - beyond the ability to share my insight; wisdom and prose - is that it all becomes a permanent record. Many years from now people will read and be inspired to take action regarding their lives because I chose to commit to not only doing something – but to do it in a way that can be easily referenced.

Now – this doesn’t mean that my three decades in radio were a waste. If you’ve read You Are God’s Best Idea! (Balboa Press/Hay House) you know what a wonderful life I’ve lived and how many amazing things I was able to accomplish for so many. The permanent record of what I helped facilitate is embedded in hearts I may never see again – and I am grateful for that opportunity. It is another motive for writing my book - so I could remember some of those stories. It is why I recommend journaling. This Daily Epigram is essentially – my journal – my way of sharing on a daily basis my new insight and epiphanies.

What you choose to do doesn’t have to be a visual expression of your divinity – although most divine expressions are. Your smile is a visual representation of who you are and its effects can and do reverberate well beyond the moment. This is the Power of Love! And it is inherent in and with you. Let it shine as you!

Tying in the opening epigram to today’s lesson is simply this: You make life’s appointments. You stay committed or dis-appoint from them. Sometimes dis-appointing yourself from a career path or relationship is a correction on your journey you should make. Other times we dis-appoint ourselves from what we love and know is in our best interests. We give up on our dreams never knowing just how close we were to fulfilling them.

There are two important appointments I made to start this year; Write and distribute the You Are God’s Best Idea! Daily Epigram for 365 consecutive days in order to raise the consciousness of my readers/students and to have a complete book written a year from now and two: To eat only when I am truly hungry and exercise at least four times a week so a year from now I will be a divine expression of health.

If I keep my appointments – I will not be disappointed. And the same is true for you.

The subtitle of my book is Divine Acceptations and Living the Undeniable Life. Life should be Undeniable. Each and every day should be a jump out of bed, bright sunshiny day regardless of cloud coverage. But that isn’t always the case.

In today’s news there was yet another headline about a 15 year-old girl who had been bullied to the point that she didn’t want to live anymore and stepped in front of a bus. Even while this child was in the hospital undergoing surgery – kids at her school were posting ugly comments on her Facebook page – the kind that pushed her in front of the bus.

The number of suicides among our nation’s children is climbing! When is this madness going to end! It is bad enough that humans have been slaughtering each other for thousands of years playing the game of Prophet Wars but enticing and pushing people off ledges and into buses is even more honorific because there are rarely any real sanctions or consequences for the antagonists. Truth is – the bullies – in school or in your workplace – have their own issues that they are passing on (or dumping upon) the people who they perceive are the weakest among them.

I don’t have the space here to fully examine all of the specific reasons behind why kids (and adults) bully – but there is one thing we can and should be proactive about. Our children need to be better prepared for life’s slings and arrows. And I don’t mean toughening them up in order to grow a thicker skin. We need to tell them who they are so when one or more ignorant children (or adults) try to tell them a lie – they will already know the inherent truth.

Right now – on this day – tell your child that they are Divine and important – needed and necessary - loved and the Beloved: You Are God’s Best Idea! Let them know that they are loved unconditionally. SHOW them they are loved unconditionally!

We are not the best or worst things we have ever done or will do. We certainly are not the best or worst thing someone thinks about us. (Unless they think we are God’s Best Idea!) We are expressions of divinity here to express our divinity. Granted – this is not what a bully is going to understand or comprehend. That is why it is up to US to help build our family’s confidence and self-esteem. They need to know that we are not judging them by the grades on their report cards; how clean their rooms are or how many blue ribbons and trophies mommy and daddy can decorate the den with. They are perfect; whole and complete just as they are. They are perfection in progress. They have original blessing. They are under grace – not because they are inherent sinners – but because they are inherently divine!

Please – whether you have children of your own or you work with children (or anyone else for that matter!) communicate to your loved ones their divine importance to you and to the world. Let them know that things do get better and life becomes ever the more beautiful when they begin to see how wonderful it already is.

It does get better. It did get better. I know – because I’m still here - living the Undeniable Life.

"There is only one rule you cannot break if you want to be a success: Self-Rule."-Douglas Holzmeier

If you are about to make a decision based on an existing rule, then it most likely was created by a person not named you. Most rules are created to hem people (and the behavior) in – not to liberate potential divine expressions. The rule breakers are the people who are remembered. They are the ones who did what they did – differently – innovatively – with originality. The word originality comes from Origin. Coloring inside the lines that your ancestor’s drew – or worse – that politicians spewed – is tracing their steps. You have your own journey!

Originals – sometimes brake rules they didn’t even know existed! They were self-ruled. Elvis Presley didn’t know you were not allowed to shake your hips on national television. It wasn’t that he misbehaved – he was just being himself. He could not have kept his pelvis from rotating anymore than a dog can keep her tail from wagging. It is in this way that animals are steps ahead of humans; as Buck Owens and the Beatles used to sing, our four legged-friends Act Naturally.

My objective is to empower your ingeniousness. You are inherently an inventive genius! I want you to understand who you are – divine and important – needed and necessary – loved and the Beloved: You Are God’s Best Idea! What you do with this revelation is up to you. You are important – but YOU decide how this importance will take shape and when and where it will be shared. In the meantime – there is something you should know.

The unenlightened - who most often sit in the corner offices in the big comfy chairs - want you to act in a way that is predictable; orderly and profitable. And it doesn’t matter if those offices are in a business; political or religious edifice. They set the rules – the laws - policies - doctrine – and attached the penalties and interest for not abiding their sage advice. But the truth is – if you follow the directions and heed the messages from the entities you are bombarded with all day – everyday – the results can be and often are – frightening. Although it is true we are responsible for what we eat and the measure of our waistlines – I think we can agree that for every sign posted along the information highway that encourages you to have a salad – there are 1001 that are telling you to run for the border and enjoy a fourth meal, have a Coke and a smile and swing by Jack in the Box because, after all, you deserve a hot-hearty breakfast whenever you (or is it them?) want.

There’s nothing wrong with advertising – I made a living for three decades in broadcast media – just raise your awareness and place your divine dreams of health above the deafening noise and influence of Madison Avenue. Rule thyself.

Decide now that you are the Captain of the U.S.S. YOU. God is with you to navigate the choppy waters. The seas change but whom and what you are is eternal Light and Love. Share your originality with us. Make your own kind of music – we’re listening.

"Great Conclusions begin with Great Resolutions."-Douglas

Just how resolute are you? Resolute means firmly resolved; determined; set in purpose. How could anyone not succeed who is set in purpose? Think about what that literally means. Imagine being cemented inside your purpose! Are you on the outside of your purpose looking in? Do you even know what your purpose is?

If you are familiar with my teachings – you know that I believe that the only real thing is Love. You are Love. Your purpose is to Love. Love is the power behind every great achievement of man. I’ll go one step further – you, as Love – are the purpose. The question: What do you want to do with your purpose – your Love?

You’re allowed to do anything. You have the gift of free will – but you need to use this gift and exercise your will. And this is where resolve comes in. A resolution should be a determination. Let’s not just set a goal – we need to be the goal. If the idea is to get healthy – be healthy! If the idea is to make more money – be abundant! This is a mind-set. Proclaim in the present - your future.

I was proclaiming the spiritual truth I was an author of a book called You Are God’s Best Idea! nine months before it was a physical reality. I did the same with the conception and reception of my son Daniel. (Read the book for the story) It really isn’t all that different from the child’s game called Pretend. Pre-tend; means you are preparing in advance for the things you intend. As an adult, however, you keep pre-tending with conviction and resolve – unlike the child who stops when the bell rings. And we need to be honest – resolving to lose weight while eating cupcakes several days a week is being irresolute and irresponsible.

Make 2012 the year the conclusions you resolved to keep - come through. It will be so if you remain true to you.

The first day of the New Year is when most people resolve themselves to doing something different in order to make a positive change in their lives. The fact that there is just this one day highlighted on the calendar for self improvement is all you need to know why resolutions rarely resonate long enough (or strong enough) to greet the following New Year, the next month; or even the following day!

You Are God’s Best Idea! – but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be making the most out of the wonderful idea that you are. In 2011 I wrote and published a book; launched a website; created the infrastructure for my Life Coaching practice; took an additional year of spiritual instruction to prepare for my Practitioner of Healing license; wrote 750 new epigrams; wrote several new chapters for my follow-up book; appeared on a several metaphysical radio shows; got published in two metaphysical magazines; did my first public speaking appearance and conducted and recorded a five-part seminar on the material in You Are God’s Best Idea! Divine Acceptations and Living the Undeniable Life. (Balboa Press/Hay House).

I am starting the first day of 2012 writing the first You Are God’s Best Idea! Daily Epigram - which you are reading right now. This exercise will create a discipline that will result in building my database and creating additional material for the follow-up book. Most importantly – it will help YOU realize your greatest potential and fondest dreams. I am so pleased and honored you have given me this opportunity!

So – per the opening epigram – January 2nd will be the same as today – which wasn’t much different from yesterday – if you don’t consciously make a list of what you want to manifest in 2012. Make a list – right now! Make the list – that’s the first step forward your dream. I used forward on purpose. The Universe rewards forward motion. My list includes creating and launching an internet radio show; writing a screenplay about my early radio days; completing the new book; releasing excess body fat; walking on a treadmill at least one hour a day; doing at least 50 live appearances and selling thousands of books! I’ve put these ideas in mind and committed them to paper (just now!) and I know that it will be and is so. This is the power of positive thing – but it is also planning the work and working the plan.
These ideas and steps work - but they start close to the heart with your inner divinity – the part of you that is spiritually perfect; whole and complete. Know NOW that inside - spiritually speaking - you are your perfect weight; perfect health and perfect wealth. We want to turn you inside out. We want the most perfect you to stand up and stand out front - starting now! You DO know what to DO!

Divine Wisdom

"Life is simple – if you choose its ease."

Several years ago – as I was walking in a park alongside the great Columbia River – a thought occurred to me: Whatever is true – is born true. We don’t make truth. We don’t create truth. All the physical (and metaphysical) laws were set in place from the start - reflecting the nature of their source. We know and put to use the obvious truths and discovered additional truths with time, usually due to a greater awareness and an elevated consciousness which result in the ever expanding expressions of Divine Mind. There is nothing truer in the latest and greatest technological advances than was true when Adam first threw his arm around Eve and grunted that all is well and good. Yes – things evolve and change - we don’t grunt as much - but not the Truth behind how they change.

I recently watched an episode of PBS’s NOVA. The episode was about how man evolved from apes. The hypothesis posed in the documentary is that there are just a few genetic DNA differences in man – compared to our closest relatives. In the interest of time I’ll try to squeeze the one hour episode into a couple of paragraphs. What one scientist found was a DNA sequence difference related to the jaws of man and ape. The human jaw is weaker – by far – than the jaw of an ape. There are tendons on either side of a gorilla’s head that pass along side both sides of the head and connect at the jaw. This gives the apes (Gorillas; Chimpanzees; Orangutans) a powerful chomp! The theory the researcher suggests is that because those muscles are absent in the human being – absent due to what he calls a DNA mutation – human skulls, unencumbered by the viselike squeeze of jaw tendons that pull the great apes cranium down tight, is the reason the human vertex can expand accommodating our much larger brains. An ape’s brain grows until age four when the crown can no longer expand because of the tendons that lock around its head. The human brain can enlarge until age thirty!

This rather recent discovery may very well explain how and why the human species is more intelligent than our cousin apes – but it in no way explains why it happened. The idea of evolution has never been a problem for the enlightened – or the minimally intelligent. Since everything comes from God and is made up of God stuff – which is all just oscillating energy at varying frequencies in different molecular and biological combinations – the real wonder is why more things don’t look MORE alike! But I’m glad they don’t – otherwise a day at the Zoo would be far less interesting.

It only makes sense that the human mammal has a close animal cousin in the form of the great apes just as the Dolphin and the Whale share commonality with the divine creatures that swim the seas. And what if – like the dinosaur – for some reason the apes had all gone extinct hundreds of thousands of years ago? We would be finding the fossils and marveling at these interesting creatures just as we do the fossils of the Neanderthal. It would not make us any less human or our Stone Age relatives any less extraordinary in their own right.

The aforementioned scientist used the word DNA mutation to explain the weaker jaw bone and the effects of it allowing for a larger brain to develop in an expanding skull. Curious – don’t you think? If God was creating a variety of animals – in Heaven or a laboratory called Earth – using the twitch of a nose or evolutionary time – would God not have said something like: “You know – I really like these chimpanzees – they are a barrel of fun – now – if I made the brains a little bigger they’d be smarter and able to do so many more things. Let’s see – since they are going to be so much more intelligent – they’ll have no need for such large jaws for ripping flesh because they’ll be gathering; hunting and cooking food as well as creating languages and speaking, so – I’ll loosen the muscles that wrap around the skull so their brains can expand along with their consciousness and someday – they will awake to the idea that they are my best idea.”

Sometimes the Truth is so easy to see but without wisdom – even scientists with the highest of IQ’s don’t put the puzzle pieces together. What is easier to digest – that a genetic mistake created a gorilla with a glass jaw and survived long enough to make it to manhood several million years down the road? Or do you think an Infinite Intelligence saw how wonderful Its great apes blue print was and decided to make a few adjustments in order to launch a Life with the potential to discover all of the divine laws of the Universe and use them to explore the heavens and find that Heaven - was always at hand – that miraculous five fingered hand with the imposable thumb?

dream, but in failing to realize they've arrived, begin their dissension."

I believe that the basic truth of human relationships was clear from the start. What we didn’t cherish – perished - due to neglect and exposure to the elements. It is why a baby – even a baby ape – clings to his or her mother. Infants are born true - created directly from source spirit. This source spirit is most closely represented on earth and in the flesh as a child’s mother.

"There's a person that needs you - that couldn't exist without you - and wishes only that you would love them. It's you."

As a family or community - we either decided to love and care for each other or disagreements soon became separations which created vulnerability and increasing hostility. This is as true today as it was tens of thousands of years ago. It is wise to see and treat each other as divine and important – needed and necessary – loved and the Beloved – God’s Best Idea! Love God and yourself as thy neighbor. Quite possibly the wisest and simplest thing ever said.

Wisdom is not a measure of knowledge – it is the discernment of truth – a sapience of judgment. In spiritual terms: Enlightenment. My contention is that – since we are born as true as truth – we are born enlightened and were so until the grownups insisted on blowing out our flame in the name of prudence – that was anything but prudent. I suppose I could propose that somehow this is God’s plan – to see how long it takes to find our way back – or –heed the Biblical advice of being like children. (Matthew 18:3 in the New World Translation): "Truly I say to you, unless you turn around and become as young children, you will by no means enter into the kingdom of the heavens." Notice Jesus says young children. Truth is born true.

Wisdom – therefore – may be less a progression than a regression. That shouldn’t be too surprising to the metaphysical type who know that getting to the spiritual truth is almost never a matter of mathematical addition – but subtraction – a peeling away of the things that are most certainly not true to find the origin of truth - the Great Truth – the Great I Am – from which you were born from - in innocence - and as Truth.

As with all of the Divine Attributes – it isn’t about applying anything for them to be - as much as it is answering and claiming the Truth of your being. You don’t need to apply make up to be beautiful – you should make up your mind to be Beauty! This is Divine Wisdom. This is Divine Truth – which is inherent in your divinity. You don’t need to educate your brain as much as you should entertain your genius.

"Talk to the divine you - she has your answer - he is your answer: Are you ready to hear yourself out?"

Wisdom is simply thinking with; through and as God – as Love. The word name - means nature. Your nature is love. Your name is Love. You know you do have such a lovely name! You were born from Love; with Love; of Love; through Love and as Love. You were born true. Life may look like a puzzle but there really is just one piece that fits together in an infinite number of ways. That one piece is Love. And thinking and acting and reacting with; from; through and as Love – you soon find that all these pieces come and join together in Love - through Harmony.

"O Soul, wise faithful soul, how I tried to live in spite of you,
but you knew you are the sole life in me."

We really do have a nasty habit of spiting ourselves. Spite means animosity; contempt; malice; rancor; resentment; umbrage; vindictiveness and hate! Why would we do this? How terribly unwise to feel and act this way but we see it played out in society just in time for the six o’clock news every day. These feelings and emotions are the opposite of Love and God. These are all false ideas. You were born true. You Are God’s Best Idea!

"God loves you so much the Divine chose to share you so we could save you - in our hearts."

Think about this. God had you all to Itself. But God – in God’s infinite wisdom chose to share you with us – not to save us – or you – but so that we could have you in our hearts. Isn’t this the Truth of Jesus? Jesus was the messenger of Love. And born as true as you – from; of; through; with and as Love – is also the message. So – we can have – hold and save the message of Love – with; from; of; through and as Jesus – if we choose. And there is no reason not to. Love is Love – when it is unconditioned. The Love represented as Jesus MUST be an unconditional Love or it is not Love at all. I accept the unconditional Love of Love from God and Jesus as much as I do from you and you and you and yes – even you!

All there is – is God. All there is – is Love. In scientific terms – all there is – is energy - wonderful vibrating energy. Self – existent good that has always been and always will be. It is God – and it is Good. To label this good in a trillion different ways is helpful when building a bridge or a rocket ship – just know that it wise to understand that it all came together so it belongs together – pieces of the Love puzzle that all fit together.

"Life doesn't want to be won, but it does ask you to play."

I hear that Life is a game. If so – it is because it wants to be played – not necessarily won. You are not competing – you are creating. You can express God in ways no previous person on earth could or can. Just the other day I received a review – really an endorsement from the writer of the book This Time I Dance, Tama Kieves. She wrote: “Douglas Holzmeier (Daniels) is the real thing. This man has a big generous soul and a way with words that can call you into your best life. There are so many books on this topic. But it’s a joy when you find one by someone who has the gift of fresh writing - who offers trays and trays of bite-sized wisdom that can change your mood, your day, and your life.”

When I wrote You Are God’s Best Idea!, I wondered to myself – does the world really need another book about the Law of Attraction and positive thinking? Apparently, yes. And it was not written to win anything. It was written in order for those who read it – to lose their past resentments and begin living their present affections and to know just how divine they are. I love Tama’s reference to my writing style as bite-sized wisdom. Is that anything like a fun-sized candy bar?

"The secret to abundance is the wisdom in knowing you are more than enough."

The above epigram has two meanings, as many of these do. You are enough means you don’t have to me more than the divine being you are. You have been authorized and certified as a child of the most high – or as the character Penny Wharvey McGill says in the movie Oh Brother, Where Art Thou: Bona fide! It also states that as an expression of Love, expressing from; with; through and as Love – you have access to the original Source Power of the Universe to act on your desire and dreams and follow them through. The divinely wise have done so – do so – the evidence of which is all around you – and you can too.

"God bless them for their no - because it makes you available for a better yes!"

Have the wisdom to understand your circumstances – the worse of which will get better as soon as you believe that they are already improving. You cannot judge today on what is coming tomorrow. Rarely a day goes by that I don’t receive another heart-warming story of a life changed because of my book or something I tweeted or posted on Twitter or Facebook. This is my mission – my purpose. It is to serve people in a way that I experience joy. My joy is my abundance. This emotion of joy opens the flow of the material abundance which is spiritual energy in physical form. Divine Wisdom is the understanding that it is with; through; from and as Joy – that all things are possible.

"Those who follow the rules - find routine. Isn't it time for a route canal?"

Do you want to live a routine life? Shake up your morning routine. Routines lead to ruts! I am not big on rules or ruts. I like the Golden Rule – not so keen on most other rules because they were developed and initiated by people who wanted YOU to follow THEM! Some people are simply going in the wrong direction – and often at high rates of speed. Before getting into a race - know where it leads and ends. Life isn’t a race to be finished first! And besides – there is no distance within – where all of God’s good and wisdom emanates from.

"The reason you can't is wrapped in the reason you won’t. Remove the not - and you most certainly will."

Notice I used the word not in the above epigram. Doubt is wisdom’s woe. Remove the not from the word can’t – and you have can! Remove not from won’t – and you will! Can you do this? Will you do this? It would be wise.

When I chose to tackle this particular acceptation called wisdom – it was tempting to look up a bunch of quotes from the ancient sages. But that would be to defeat the inherent Truth of what Wisdom is. You are born wise – loving and being – loving, being – a loving being. It is ignorance that you acquired and even set upon an altar until its bitter fruit was impossible to consume that separated you from your inherent Truth. A child isn’t being unreasonable when it spits out the wrinkly, awful tasting frozen peas to feed Fido beneath the kitchen table. That’s real trickle-down economics and perfectly wise and good! It is the politician who calls himself a Bible believing Christian who insists on making it even harder for the Billionaire and his camel to get through the eye of the needle by piling more cash in his hands in hopes that he’ll allow a few those extra millions to land in the homeless person’s tin cup – that is foolish; unreasonable and unwise.

"You've already been endorsed - cast your vote and elect yourself!"

Ebenezer Scrooge didn’t share his abundance with the world because society gave him more – it was because he discovered there was more within him to give. He listened to the wise and true heavenly spirits brought forth from an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of an underdone potato – or a wise and divine sub-consciousness that made Its way through his hardened heart on the eve of Truth’s divine rebirth - represented in the nativity child who like all of us – is born true.

It is up to each and every one of us to awaken to our inherent divinity; the Attributions of Light – Beauty – Happiness – Prosperity – Power - Peace – Love - Truth and Wisdom await our acceptation. It would be wise to be as enlightened as the child who knows only love as Love and Love as himself. Accept your divinity. Know You Are God’s Best Idea! and Live the and Undeniable Life!

"Your success is not measured by the number of followers you
have - but where you have led."

Jesus is often referred to as the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 I reads:
“For a Child hath been born to us, A Son hath been given to us, And the princely power is on his shoulder, And He doth call his name Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.”

What is a prince – a Son of a King or Queen – a person of royalty – a nobleman. Are you a child of royalty and the most high - son or daughter of the Mother-Father God? The Bible tells me so.

What is the princely power? There is only One Power – God’s Power – which is Love. Do you have the princely power on your shoulder – coursing through your very being with every beat of your heart? Of course you do.

There are only two records of the birth of Jesus; one in the Gospel of Matthew and the other in Luke. These testaments differ significantly - Luke’s emphasis is mostly on Mary – before the birth of Jesus. Matthew spends more time after the nativity and centers on Joseph. Mark and John give no narrative or importance to the Christmas Story whatsoever – their gospels begin with Jesus in his adulthood where his message of Peace, Love and Understanding change the world – at least that part of the world.

Matthew pays special attention to the names given this child of God: Jesus and Immanuel. As you probably know – name is a synonym for nature. The name Jesus meant “saves”. It is only in Matthew that the word Jesus and the saving of people from sins are ever written. Emmanuel means “God is with us”. The word “Christ” means Enlightened - from the Greek Christos.

As all the major (and minor) religious practices hold – and is clearly described in 1 John: 4:7: “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.” God is Love and all who have ever lived were born of God, born of Love – and have loved – and are Love.

Jesus is Love. Does Love save us from our mistakes? Not necessarily the consequence of our errors – but Love absolutely helps us recover and even redeem ourselves from blunders. Absolutely is derived from the word Absolve - which means to be freed from guilt or blame – to be pardoned!

"To think the thoughts of God one must assume the position.
Locate love."

God is with is us: Immanuel. This is what is called inherent Divinity. I and the Father are One. You and the Mother are One. We and Love are One - Love! You Are Inside What is Inside You – just like Jesus the Christ.

Mass means Whole: a collection of particles, parts or objects regarded as forming One body. Christ means Enlightened. Christ-Mass means the Enlightened One. The word Christ – in the dictionary – also means someone similar to Jesus. You’ve heard of the term Christ Consciousness. Jesus had the Mind of Christ. Corinthians 2:16-17 says "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly--mere infants in Christ.” So it may be true that we have a way to go as infants in Enlightenment but as I suggested in the Divine Wisdom acceptation that I shared on Thursday night – I believe we are born enlightened – but we allow the clouds of illusion darken our consciousness when we are asleep to our inner magnificence – our divinity.

"You must decide whether you will be a divine seed that
reaches its highest potential or hide your glory beneath the surface."

So - you may have an idea by now where I am going with this. My message – the message God asked me to share is: You are divine and important – needed and necessary – loved and the Beloved: You Are God’s Best Idea! You are divine – why - because you are love. You are important – why - because you are love. You are needed – why - because you are love. You are necessary – why - because you are love. You are loved because you are love and you are the Beloved because you are Love. Sounds a lot like Jesus the Christ to me. Hold on to your seats because here it comes:

YOU ARE - THE DIVINE CHRIST!!! You are the Loved - One! You are the Christ – Mass - The Enlightened One.(Whole) Happy Birthday to YOU! Happy Birthday to YOU! Happy Birthday Dear Beloved – Happy Birthday – to YOU!

"It isn't that an expanded and enlightened consciousness sees
more things; it just sees the One thing It is."

Now – when you sing all those lovely Christmas songs – sing them with the understanding that you are celebrating the Life of God – that is as inherent in you as it is in Jesus the Christ. Joy to the World – YOU – have COME – to be the Enlightened ONE!

"The Light of the Universal Christ is always on - isn't it time to
shine?"

I know there might be some people who have never heard the idea of inherent divinity who may balk; reject or even call these ideas blasphemy. Just consider the following: Did Jesus agree to come to earth to teach us how to love God and one another or to be an object of adoration and worship – a divisive personality in the annals of human history that has led to the murder of millions in his name? I have a friend who is a singer –Jess Rice - who has written a great song about this very dilemma called Eating the Menu – a song about Jesus at a diner flipping through some Bible pages:

Oh god – this is not what I meant
Let it come out of your hands and it comes out all bent
Looks like we need more grease for that squeaky wheel
Everyone is eating the menu instead of the meal
O the kingdom of God is among you
O the kingdom of God is within you

Jesus was (and is) a divine way shower. He taught us God’s true nature – God’s way of living and loving but we have used the worship of him as a personality – to separate us from his teachings and instruction to love God and thy neighbor as thyself. My recommendations herein are not designed to dilute the importance of Jesus the Christ – it is to clue you in to your commonality with the Christ – and raise your consciousness of inherent divinity so you can do as Jesus suggested you would in John 14:12: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me, (which is Love) the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do...”.

It’s time to get to work - accept your glorious birth right as a divine child of God -the Only Begotten One - know that You Are God’s Best Idea! –and begin living and celebrating the Undeniable Life!

"Divine Solutions"

You may have a problem – but you are NOT a problem. You certainly are not your problem. Just as you are not your job; income; political party or religious denomination – you are divine and important – needed and necessary – loved and the Beloved: You Are God’s Best Idea!

So - you may say – what about the person whose behavior is so destructive that people define them by what it is they do and have done. You are not the worse or best thing you have ever done. You are who you are – a child of the most high. She is not the sexiest woman of the silver screen – Marilyn Monroe – she is Norma Rae – perfect, whole and complete; yesterday, today and forever and a day. He is not Rock Hudson – handsome leading man and box office star of the 1950s and 60s – he is Roy Herald Scherer junior of Winnetka, Illinois – an eternal soul who graced us with his rugged good looks and million dollar smile – for awhile – and returned home with as much divine favor as when he arrived – perfect, whole and complete.

Sure – you may say – those are two examples of Hollywood Royalty but what about the average Jill and Joe who self destruct. You mean like a Norma or a Roy? You can build yourself up or knock yourself down. In the case of Monroe and Hudson – and most of the rest of us – we do both: Building ourselves up and knocking ourselves down. Sometimes we get a little help from our friends – sometimes we get a little help from alcohol and drugs – who we substitute for friends – proxies for love.

As I have consistently shared in just about all of my writings – love is always right where we leave it. God is where we placed God. Is God out in front of us where God belongs so when people look at us they can’t help but see God first – or have you placed God – which is our love – somewhere back there?

The answer is always love. Love – is the answer – the solution to every problem. You are love. So you cannot be the problem. You are from God – made of God – made from and of Love. You are the solution. You are the answer to your prayer. Enlightenment is the understanding that you are the answer to your own prayer.

In the epigram that opens this chapter I suggest that you Solute yourself. The epigram not only sounds good but it reads almost like a riddle that solves itself. The definition of “solute” is the thing being dissolved in a given solution. If eating too much is the problem you have – you can immerse yourself in a solution of self love and the overeating problem shall dissolve. This is true of every problem but in our society we have elevated some problems to a status so high we have practically placed them on an altar – not to be given up to God but almost to be worshiped alongside God. You cannot unite and be one with the Great I AM while claiming that you are something God is not. It may be true that I am temporarily carrying around extra pounds in the form of excess fat – but I would be doing my Creator a great disservice if I proclaimed that I Am Fat! My body has been overfed – that is true and it is my responsibility to take better care of it but as C.S. Lewis said: “You don’t have a soul – you are a soul. You have a body.” And any problem associated with your body may be something you have – but it is not something you are!

See yourself as the solution. You can own up to the lousy circumstances you have assisted in creating – but you are not your circumstance or your appearance – anymore than a starving child in Africa is their circumstance or a cancer patient their illness. These are things that are – but these things are not you! You are not starvation. You are not disease. You are the attributes of God: You are Wisdom! You are Light! You are Power! You are Peace! You are Beauty! You are Truth! And most importantly – You are Love!

Affirm these divine attributes with me and say: I am Wisdom – I am Light – I am Power – I am Peace – I am Beauty – I am Truth – I am Love!

Your problem may be alcoholism – but you are not an alcoholic. Call on the Higher Power that resides in you and be One with God and claim this Power and live your life with, through and as Truth – as Wisdom – as Light – as Power – as Peace – as Beauty – as Love – as God! Just as pure clean water poured into a glass of murky-cloudy water will soon be filled with only the clean pure water, so it is that an immersing of your Mind and Spirit in the attributes of God will soon reveal what has always been divinely true of you and me: Divine Perfection!

Time Out of Mind is a song about doing drugs. I didn’t know that until I did a little research. I’ve always liked the song and the lyrics. I’ve never done drugs like those inferred in the tune. (Heroin or Opium) I received a far more metaphysical message from my reading. In most cleverly written lyrics, the poet usually is suggesting more than one meaning and encourages personal interpretations. The majority of my epigrams are meant to speak to the reviewer according to their consciousness. In the best case scenario, the metaphor is understood in a way that raises the individual’s consciousness. That is a grand and I admit, haughty goal, but it makes this enterprise all the more worthwhile. Does it really matter what the author was experiencing when she tried to put it down in words, if your rendering unveils a Truth for you?

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. It is one of the most familiar cliché’s and patently—true. It suggests that even something or someone who is usually wrong can not only be right—but enlightening so. It is why we should be open-minded to Truth however we meet it.

One of the reasons I loved the Andy Griffith Show was because the wisest man in town, Sheriff Andy Taylor, from time to time, was wrong! Against type, it was Barney Fife who comes to the correct conclusion regarding who the criminal is in some episodes, even if the reasoning behind his suspicion is off base. Occasionally it is Opie, the child, who schools Pa with divination.

Epiphany’s don’t come wrapped in little blue boxes from Tiffany’s. They can come at the end of tirades—yours or someone else’s. Will we catch them? How many times will the Universe try to send you the message you need to hear before you are open to receive and accept it? And what if, like the stopped clock, it is sent from a source that rarely is right? You don’t have to embrace the messenger to grasp the message. Often times, it is in listening to a person with the opposite point of view who speaks Truth to Power, or, at least, inadvertently strengthens the convictions and faith we have in our own. In either case, wasn’t it beneficial in hearing them out?

I recently received a note from a new Facebook friend that, at first, took me aback—suggesting I: Stay outside Myself. I believe she was advising that although we should stay centered in Truth, we need to be open to Light from other sources. Now, all Light comes from the same Source, but it can bubble up from unlikely wellsprings. The thirst for Truth is sometimes quenched by sipping from the encrusted chalice. Lies are vanquished by deserting our own cherished mirages. Divorce your mirage, marry your Vision!

As my aforementioned friend above conveyed, spending some time out of your mind can be advantageous. Take a vacation from the mind that was heavily influenced, even corrupted, in formidable years. It is time to Break the Spell! We don’t use the word spells anymore but, isn’t it true that in some ways, our troubles are manifestations of spells that were cast from members of your caste? Did someone in your childhood place a spell on you when they suggested that you would never amount to anything? This was a projection of their personal futility. The key word is projection. They were reflecting their lack of self-esteem while, quite literally, projecting their limitations onto you! Offering them the benefit of the doubt, this may have all been done subconsciously but I do remember a few twisted and contorted faces telling me, in no uncertain terms, just how little they thought of me. The spell has no affect unless we agree to accept it. When it came to my weight, I did.

I started to gain weight between the age of seven and eight. I was a little pudgy, maybe close to chubby. But I remember being told I was FAT! This was also the time that I started wearing my brothers' hand-me-downs. Although they were many years older, some of their clothes fit. Actually, they didn’t really fit so well. In fact, they were loose and baggy. I got the nickname; “baggy pants”. You see, I was growing so fast and finances were so tight that instead of buying new clothes that I was going to outgrow in a few months, mother instructed me to wear my high school aged brothers old clothes. I associated this "oversized" apparel as my fat clothes. The tag, baggy pants, might as well have been fatso.

Because I agreed to the spell that was projected on me, I began to embody it. I remember going on a tuna fish and scrambled eggs diet. Dieting, at age eight, is not a good idea. My metabolism was never quite the same. I remember being invited to go horseback riding at a nearby stable. I was scared to death I was going to break the horses back. I only weighed 80 pounds. This is how exaggerated my self-image was because I agreed to accept I was dangerously fat, even for a 1000 pound horse! I also agreed that I was ugly and stupid and lazy and God knows how many other unkind and cruel spells. The most insidious and sad part of my story is that so many of these spells were from the adults in my life. What child doesn’t take his or her cues from the authority figures in their lives—parents; teachers; nuns; priests; neighbors—these are powerful figures who are supposed to know better. Think about that sentence for a moment. Isn’t that what adults are supposed to do for children? Know better for them? What they knew about me was a lot of crap that I, unfortunately, agreed to. God doesn’t just know what’s better for us; God knows us better, and thus, knows better for us.

If you still feel you are ugly; stupid; fat; a sinner; and a loser; then you are still under the spells of your childhood that are compounded when we perceive disapproval in our adult relationships. You become disempowered, or, you have never claimed the power that is inherent in you; your divinity!

Break these spells! Lose your illusions! Divorce your mirages! Accept your divinity! You are important; necessary; needed, and divine! You are loved and the Beloved: You Are God’s Best Idea! I’m not asking you to embrace me, the messenger; I am only praying you receive and accept the Truth of your divinity.

Here is another Truth you might not be able to handle. Just as you have had dispersions cast upon you, you have probably done the same to others. Ouch! That smarts, but it is true. Just like the book Everyone Poops, well, everyone Projects! We have all projected and dumped our poopy view of ourselves onto others. It is time to start forgiving. Let go of the attachments to the hurt that was leveled on you and those who did the leveling. Forgive yourself for accepting their crap, even though you were a child, and let go of those false projections now! Then, think about who you have crapped on, who you have placed spells upon and remove them! Call these loved ones up and say you’re sorry. Share how you have found the good news of divine acceptation. (Use words they’ll understand) Buy them a copy of this and the first book! (They make great presents!

As Donald Fagan of Steely Dan wrote, even if he was thinking of doing a line of self-destruction, his words express Universal Truth:

Son you better be ready for love
On this glory day
This is your chance to believe
What I've got to say
Children we have it right here
It's the light in my eyes
It's perfection and grace
It's the smile on my face

May you have a heightened consciousness in order to discern Truth, no matter how it may be delivered?

Save a Prayer

The objective of my life is to contribute to the raising consciousness in the world we breathe in. By informing the people of this planet that they are necessary and needed, loved and the Beloved, it makes for a divine foundation. An acceptance that You Are God’s Best Idea!, should stir some wonderful ideas of your own. In a high station of vibration and awareness, these ideas will most likely be the ideas of God anyway. Now that’s a Divine idea!

In my spiritual practice, we have a way of praying that is sometimes called a treatment. It has five simple parts that together, form a very powerful model for clearing your mind of anything that doesn’t concern the prayer. The structure is as follows:

1. Recognition: This is a statement that “God is all there is and all there is—is God. There is only One Power and it is a Power for Good.” (This can be stated in an infinite number of ways, but you get the idea.)

2. Unification: “I am united and One with this Power; this Goodness, which is God.” (Again, this can and is expressed in a different way almost every time I pray. The idea is to consciously unify your consciousness with God’s Divine Mind.)

3. Realization: This is an affirmative statement in the present tense declaring that what is desired already is. The reason this is done is because you are a perfect idea in the Mind of God. We want to peel back the temporal appearances of illness, for example, and reveal the usual state of well-being. “I am Perfect, Whole and Complete. I am healthy. I am well. I know this to be spiritually true and I embody the spiritual Truth of my well being right here and now.” The important thing to remember is that you are not petitioning God for your Good, because God is always giving what God is: An Abundance of the Divine Attributes which are, but not limited to; Wealth; Health; Happiness; Joy; Power; Peace; Light, and Love.

4. Thanksgiving: This is where you express acknowledgment and appreciation for the Spiritual Truth of your prayer. This is where we thank the Universe in advance of the manifestation of the treatment. It is done to you as you believe. This is the gratitude part of prayer. Showing gratitude prior to the unfolding of the desired condition is an exhibition of your Faith, which is part and parcel to your consciousness, which we will explore below.

5. Release: This is where you release the seed of your idea or desire into the fertile soil of Divine Mind. Just as the farmer plants the seed into his field with an absolute knowing that what he has sown will yield a harvest, we do the same with a Spiritual Mind Prayer treatment. We do this knowing that there are Universal Laws which always work. Just as Gravity is impersonal, so is the Law of Action. The farmer’s soil does not reject the potato seed because it is anticipating tomatoes. We reap what we sow. With this in mind (literally) I offer this example of Release. “I release these words, the spiritual truth of my divine health and well being, into the sacrosanct Law of Action, knowing it is as I believe."

And So It is.

The phrase, And So It Is, is another version of, Amen. It means the exact same thing. I like to use, And So It Is, because, the so reminds me of sow, which is what I’ve just done—sown seeds of spiritual Truth. It is also the exclamation point of the prayer. As I type these words using a Word Document, it occurs to me that And So It Is, is also like clicking the SAVE button. This document file is just a bunch of symbols until I click Save. I could print this out right now, but it wouldn’t be a saved file, (nor a finished essay) simply a paper copy. And we know what happens to paper. Paper tears. Paper burns. Papers get lost. Dogs eat paper. Paper stains. (Who wants a stained prayer?) Paper isn’t permanent. Once printed, you can’t fix the errors or change the document in any beautified way. Recently I went through dozens of boxes of old paper documents from the 1980s and 1990s I had stored in the garage. I cringed every time I looked at a type written letter with typos, white out, misspelled words, and more. These documents, many of which were memos and business correspondence, were not favorable representations of my thoughts and intentions. They were not favorable reflections of me!

Thank God, we have spell check! The composition software even fixes spelling errors as we type. (Be careful though. Sometimes it misreads your intention and places the wrong word!) There are red underlines when the program perceives a grammatical mistake. We make the corrections; save our word documents as a file for easy retrieval, basically saying, And So It Is! So, where am I going with all of this?

With prayer, just like a document file, before you “click save”, you haven’t made an affirmative choice and created a tangible product. It is just thoughts and ideas represented by symbols until a commitment has been made and preserved. When we pray, there must be a conviction to the prayer and faith in the process. That is why I encourage you to consciously unify with God as you begin your prayer. State the prayer in the present tense with all the glory of spiritual truth you can embody and give great and sincere thanks that what you have treated for is true. Release this Truth, which should be expressed with strong, affirmative emotion and feeling, into the fertile field of Divine Mind and accentuate the prayer with a heartfelt: And So It Is!

Prayer is not powered by need or mercy. You do not have God’s grace because you are wicked; you are graced because you are a divine child of God! (By the way, the word wicked in Biblical times simply meant a person who was not practicing the Hebrew faith to the letter of the Law. Essentially, EVERYONE qualified as wicked, even Jesus, who told everyone to basically, lighten up about all that judgment and stoning stuff.) Prayer is not sorrowful. Prayer is powered by Faith! And as you probably know by now, faith is represented by your level of consciousness. This consciousness determines, in great part, the conditions and circumstances that arise in your life. There are variables, and some people believe that a certain amount of turmoil is inherent in the human condition. Well, you know what I believe is inherent; your divinity! Even so, there is no contention to the idea that the higher your consciousness, the more poise you will possess and present in the face of a storm. You simply know that—this too, shall pass.

If you read, You Are God’s Best Idea!, I wrote that the average person has upwards to 60,000 thoughts a day. The vast majority of these are conscious thoughts. Meantime, the unconscious, or, subconscious mind, is downloading EVERYTHING it senses. Everything it hears, sees, smells, touches, and tastes. (It is probably downloading sixth sense sensations as well!) Everything you experience (or think you experience) is recorded on the hard drive of your mind. For this discussion, I will stick to the concept of the mind as being above the brain, although, naturally, brain functions are intricate in the equation.

As all of this information is coming in, you are attaching feelings and emotions to all of it—consciously or subconsciously. Positive emotions are attached to positive thoughts and events and negative emotions are bonded to negative thoughts and experiences. All of these thoughts and experiences are downloaded and filed accordingly and all of them are used to help (or hinder) as you navigate your way through life. This is the state of your consciousness; which affects your experiences; how you act and react to the present, and project into the future. It is why a past negative event keeps corrupting your life because the feelings and emotions connected to the memory file are a contamination—a virus!

The feelings you rivet to these downloaded information files, which may number in the millions a day, every day, for your entire life, consciously or subconsciously, are infected by contradiction. That is, they are contradictory to living the divine and Undeniable Life of your dreams. A negative thought, held in mind, replicates with every additional negative thought associated with the first negative thought. Soon, you are spiraling downward as these conscious thoughts trigger the billions of previous held thoughts, which have been affixed with the invalidating virus of negative emotion. Can you see how easy it is for a person who is already vibrating in the lower frequencies of doubt and fear, to be propelled into a state of depression? This is all taking place in the inner space of mind. We haven’t even touched upon the idea that these negative energies then attract the life sucking energies that other people in the vicinity are producing! Let’s just stay focused on you for now.

You might say, “Well, I guess we’re all screwed! How the hell does one ever stop the madness!! You have to change the character of the virus. You have to detach the negative feelings and emotions from those billions of thoughts and events. You cannot change the events of your past but YOU CAN CHANGE HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THEM. You can take back the negative connotation you gave those thoughts and circumstances in a Holy Instant. You can forgive everybody and everything, thereby, detaching yourself from them. In an alleviated state of consciousness you could even see those past (and present) events and conditions as good; transmuting the energy to a higher frequency. I choose not to use the word quarantined. A quarantined pathogen can still do great damage if it gets loose in the future. (Also known as the ever-present, now) A tragedy ascended to the level of blessing in a spiritually mature mind, can be a black balloon note for someone who is just suppressing memories. Minimally, I suggest that you rescind the negative energy linked to those corrupted memory files, so the YOU inside those events, is healed.

It is we who choose to attach significance to any documentation. We give the Declaration of Independence and Constitution their platform in our consciousness. It is the patriotic feelings and emotions that we join to them that will their power, not the parchment or pen. The Power is in the People, which produced these democratic ideals to begin with. Actually, I believe that (many) of these high ideals were downloaded from Divine Mind.

I did suggest that all of your thoughts are fastened with your feelings and emotions. So, yes, your positive thoughts are also imbued with viruses! But who says a contagion cannot be positive? A positive virus of the mind replicates itself in the same way a negative one does. A positive thought leads to a positive emotion that leads to another positive thought that triggers all those embodied positive thought viruses that generate a power field of magnetic energy that then attracts the constructive energies that are in the divinity that's in the vicinity and before you know it; you find yourself—-in a state of Bliss! (I’ve visited there a few times. Simply, Heaven! No income tax either

Earlier I referenced clicking the Save button when you are finished with your Word document. The latest versions of most composition software have an Auto-Save function. Every time you write something additional, the document is automatically saved so you don’t lose what you were working on. Your progress is secured.

I believe that when you are centered in Love and Light; what some call God or Christ Consciousness; you see and experience everything as Light and Love. You not only don’t bind negative feelings and emotions to the circumstances and conditions in your life, but you see and project a positive perception to all your experiences. An enlightened soul is even able to extend a miraculous view of those in the most dire straits. Isn’t this what Jesus did? He did not see the alleged affliction; he only recognized and acted on their Faith and his Divinity.

And so it is with prayer. God can only do for you what God can do through you. Those whom we call Masters or Avatars are those who are praying, ceaselessly. They are consciously thinking the thoughts of Heaven, that all is good and all is God. God and Goodness is what they experience because God and the Kingdom IS their experience.

We can view all the earthly extremes as variations on the Divine Theme. The Valley is as praise worthy as the mountain. The sunrise is as awe inspiring as the sunset. Death, no less necessary as birth. All is God. God is All.

With an Enlightened consciousness, every moment is Holy; every thought is a prayer of appreciation; and it is all worth saving.

Perfection in Progress

Recently I saw a Facebook post by a prominent spiritual teacher who suggested that we are not perfect, but we are on our way there. I know what she was trying to convey, but it isn’t spiritually true. I’m not even sure if it holds up as truth on the earth plane.

"Enlightenment comes when you are finally able to wipe all the sleep from your eyes."-Douglas Holzmeier

Isn’t it time to awaken to the Truth of our inherent divinity? Why, pray tell, is a person less perfect than an animal such as the Eagle? No one says—"There goes one of God's imperfect Sparrows or Bears." Even the mouse and snail are perfectly good mice and snails. Why would God's highest earthly life form be less perfect than the mountain lion or house cat? Does anyone ever say when a baby is born that it is anything less than a glorious Miracle? When does this perfectly divine creature known as the human being become "imperfect"?

Is it defective because it crawls before it walks and walks before it runs? When it decides she wants a cookie an hour before dinner and Mommy says “NO—you mustn't have a cookie or you'll spoil your appetite.” Does the five year-old become imperfect when he fails to color inside the lines or asks for assistance with those pesky shoe-strings? How many push-ups does a 10 year-old have to do in a row to qualify as impeccable in the eyes of a person who is convinced there is simply no perfection inherent in the people who inhabit God’s otherwise perfect planet? Is the 14 year-old wholly inferior because of the onset of acne or the C she receives in Algebra while acing all her other subjects? How many times would a single mother have to get married to erase the questionable choices that led to her “unfortunate” situation?

Only PERFECTION can come from PERFECTION—which is God. Choices we make as inexperienced children and evolving adults that result in varying degrees of success, do not make us any less suited for perfection than the puddle producing puppy or the Irish Setter who runs across the highway and gets hit by a car. Was this beautiful canine 3rd-rate because it was startled by the noise and commotion of rush hour traffic? Please don't confuse temporal appearances for spiritual reality. As I write in my book "You Are God's Best Idea!"—we are a perfect idea in the Divine Mind of God as much as the Rose or Dove, symbols we use to signify perfect Love and Light.

Some might argue, and with much circumstantial evidence, do argue that if we are perfect, how does a Hitler exist and rise to a position of power and wield such terror and horror?

"The only good is love and faith; the only evil is fear and doubt."-Douglas Holzmeier

First of all—let’s be clear; Adolph Hitler never rose to power. The Universe never pushes back against Power. There is only one Power and that is a power for good, which is God. Hitler descended to the position of Force with a mind that was consumed by terror and horror. We don’t have time here to document how and why that happened but it was clearly a result of fear and doubt, not faith and love. I propose that there never has been a more fear-filled person than Hitler. He was the polar opposite of Jesus, who was a fully orbed being of Light, Faith and Love.

"A faith you propose should bring repose otherwise you're just disturbing the peace."-Douglas Holzmeier

All conflict, especially war, is an exhibition of fear through Force. The pattern repeats until everyone is dead or forgets what all the fuss was about. Sometimes, someone decides to surrender to Love, which is Power, to resolve hostilities. Or, should I say, evolve hostilities. Moving the debate from a lower vibration of fear and doubt to the higher consciousness of faith and love where false appearances and illusions of combat cease; is Peace.

"Since God is eternal, your invitation is made in the unremitting now; your peace is reserved."-Douglas Holzmeier

Here’s the crux of the matter; my epiphany. Human beings are at war with each other because we insist in seeing each other as individuals or groups of imperfection. What we fight over is: Which of us is a little less imperfect than the other? For example, the ancient crusade continues as to who is more “Holy” than the other among religions.

In Rwanda, 800,000 Tutsi were slaughter by the Hutu in the 1994 genocide. The history of this African region is complicated. With the arrival of Catholic missions in the African great lake Region, there was a resistance from the Tutsi community to Christian conversion. The missionaries were successful, however, with the Hutu. Properties of the Tutsi were taken and given to Hutu. This was the beginning of the conflict between the two ethnic groups, who, theretofore, had peacefully coexisted.

If you saw the movie, “Hotel Rwanda”, you see where the Hutu, in deciphering just who is Tutsi or Hutu, do so by observing the length of noses. The Tutsi originally came from Ethiopia where longer noses are characteristic. That’s how insane war can be.

"The cure for insecurity is a consciousness secured in divinity."-Douglas Holzmeier

We were created as the beings that God wanted, even needed, in order to express God best. The fact that we don’t do that well due to amnesia and ignorance doesn’t change the inherent Truth of our divinity. Maybe Socrates had it right when he wrote:

"The only Good is Knowledge. And the only evil is ignorance."

According to Genesis, you, as a representation of the human race, were the very last thing God created. In other words, you are God’s exclamation point to creation and perfection, not the period in its destruction!

"When would now be a good time to accept you are a child of the Most High and inherit your Divinity?"-Douglas Holzmeier

You are divine; loved and the Beloved. You Are God's Best Idea! and God's best ideas are perfect.

"It's time to use your perfection to progress your perfection."-Douglas Holzmeier

Thin Slices

In the Malcolm Gladwell book Blink; there is a chapter called The Theory of Thin Slices: How a Little Bit Less Knowledge Goes a Long Way. And when we have less knowledge, such as when we only have enough light to illuminate what is in front of us, we must trust that what is just ahead is what is good for us; what we expect and desire, even if logically—it seems as if we may not be headed in the right direction. This is where belief; faith and consciousness come in.

"Faith is the acceptation of expectation."-Douglas Holzmeier

This reminds me of the 1980s video game PAC-MAN. There was a "pattern" to Pac-Man. Once you knew the pattern you could play non-stop. But the interesting thing about the pattern, at a certain point, you are going directly towards those pesky ghosts who were trying to get you. There was just enough room for you to ascend to the next level, just a split second, (a thin slice) before the ghost would catch you and you’d hear that famous spiraling sound of defeat. Most people ran from those ghosts even if they had been taught the pattern and showed the way. Like the game—in life—if you keep running from the ghosts of the past; present or future—they eventually eat you up. Face them—and you transcend them—because they are just shadows and illusions anyway.

In my book You Are God’s Best Idea! I write: Great Expectations must begin with Great Acceptations. We can only expect what we can accept. I like to think I'm very open-minded. The higher your consciousness, the greater view you have of life. I try to go into situations with the expectation that All is well and good, therefore, whatever I encounter that may seem strange and unusual—could be an amazing and wonderful opportunity for a miracle.

The difference between seeing things clearly or not is: CONSCIOUSNESS! Tom Hanks, for example, just knew he was going to be successful—not because he was the best actor, funniest guy or most handsome man. It was because that is what he wanted to do and be and his contemporaries—many who were technically better actors; better looking and funnier—gave up on their dream a year; a month; a week; a day; an hour; maybe even a minute or second too early.

In 1989 I was expecting a call from a radio station general manager in Wheeling, WV about a job. I spent $15 on the overnight mailer. I was told I was to expect the call from the boss at 10am on Friday morning. By 4:55pm that afternoon there had been no call and I was upset, thinking I was going to have to wait until Monday morning to hear if they were interested. I got mad and thought I would call them and tell them I was no longer interested in the position because of their lack of professionalism. As I reached for the phone at 4:59pm—it rang. It was the GM apologizing for taking so long to get back to me and then setting up the appointment for the interview. I took that job and had a great 10 year run at WKWK—a run I almost ran in the other direction from—because of an emotion rooted in a ghost of resentment from the past that was shadowing my present and attempting to dissolve my future. There is such a thin slice, sometimes, between bliss and the abyss.

I recently had a garage sale and came across my tapes from when I was in broadcasting school. I was terrible. Laughingly horrible! While we were playing these magnetic relics, my wife and son were doubled-over in hysterics! But you know what—I didn't know I was that bad. My dream was to work at my favorite radio station someday. I knew what I wanted and I wanted what I knew—that I was going to be a radio star on WXGT! In 1988—nine years and nine stations after broadcasting school, I landed the midday slot at Most Music 92X.

If someone would have said to me: "Doug—I know you want to do this radio thing but you suck!" They would have been factually correct, based on appearances; but spiritually wrong. I went to the same broadcasting school that Ted Williams went to. Ted Williams was the homeless DJ that made international news in 2010 when he was discovered on a Columbus street corner "announcing for food". Ted has one of the greatest voices and deliveries you have ever heard. Unlike me—he ALWAYS sounded like that and got great jobs right out of school. Unfortunately, he could not hold those jobs for long because of drug and alcohol problems. Even after being re-discovered late last year and being invited on all the national talk shows and getting job offers from professional sports teams and radio and TV stations in New York and Los Angeles—he went back to drinking. A consciousness of LOVE sees EVERYTHING as LOVE. A consciousness of Despair sees desperately and despairingly. The falling snow means slippery footing—can't go outside. The shining sun means skin cancer—can't go outside. A lower consciousness results in a lack of trust which means you rust where you are. The difference between trust and rust—is one, thin, letter.

A lower consciousness says that although the cheddar cheese looks like cheddar cheese on one side—there might be Limburger on the other. The person with the higher consciousness—who trusts the process and her intuition KNOWS that on the other side of the cheddar cheese—is more cheddar cheese.

The epigram above has been my mantra for the nearly two years since I wrote it. Whenever I would feel a bit of discouragement; such as happened following my lay off at the radio stations I was programming and managing in September, 2010--I kept reminding myself that it is in the follow through that all great things are accomplished. Groundhog Day 2007, I was working in Chicagoland. This wasn't just any February 2nd; this was Groundhog Day in Woodstock, IL. Woodstock is where movie director Harold Ramis filmed Groundhog Day, the film starring Bill Murray. It is one of my favorite movies.

The radio station I programmed was licensed to Woodstock. I confess that I was drawn to this particular job in part because of my fancy for the Groundhog Day movie. Like most people, I thought it was filmed in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

As Groundhog Day approached, I was nearly giddy. We arranged a broadcast from the bar where Phil and Rita drink to world peace. We had the (unofficial) World's Largest Toast to World Peace that evening. The town of Woodstock celebrates Groundhog Day the same way Punxsutawney does, but with fewer folks.

The story of the sardonic Phil Conners and his “Is that all there is” view of life, most of us have identified with at one time or another. Phil spends day after day, week after week, month after month (year after year?) stuck in Punxsutawney on Groundhog Day. He goes through all of the stages of loss: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance. It is only after he has accepted his situation and makes the best of it, that he is redeemed; embraced by the entire town when he chooses to serve it, and, in the end, loved by the angelic Rita, played perfectly by Andie MacDowell.

In Groundhog Day, after Phil wakes up on February 3rd with Rita in his arms, he says: "Today... is tomorrow". He realizes what a gift he has been given, to see a new day, in a new way, and you know he will make the most of it.

Make today your February 3rd, the first day of the rest of your life, fully awake and aware you are God’s Best Idea!, grateful, and seeking to serve.

Divine Healing

“Healing is a consistent consciousness of health.”

All the material in this book points toward a Divine Consciousness. It begins not only with the acceptance of your divinity but manifests outwardly with your predominant thoughts. I have used the word embody or embodiment several times. You may be wondering want I mean. I can use a couple of examples that might give you a better idea. You have probably read about actors who got so far into the role that they were playing that even when the director said cut, the actor remained in character. They are embodying the spirit (so to speak) of the character. There is a great scene in the movie American Graffiti when the Richard Dryfuss character, Curt, visits the radio station where he thinks Wolfman Jack is. At first, the operator at the radio control board says the Wolfman is broadcasting from a place far away, across the Mexico border. As the disappointed Curt walks away, Wolfman’s voice is heard and Dryfuss turns around to see, that indeed, it is the Wolfman, now in character, at the radio controls.

Earlier in my career when I was a hit crankin’, hot rockin’, Top 40 air personality, I would go into character and embody the persona of a happening radio jock. It was fun. If you go to my website you can hear examples of those days.

The point is, you can’t change who you inherently are (nor would you want to), a divine child of God, but you can and do choose the states of consciousness you embody. The poor and abused child of Mississippi can choose to be anything she wants, and did, and is now the richest woman on the planet. Her name is Oprah Winfrey. Where you are born is not who you are born to be, although it can play a role, one way or another, in what you choose to do. I suggest that whatever you choose to do, that it is a choice based on service and with divinity. You are helping the Universe unfold Truth, and that is an awesome role to play.

Think

Every second of your waking day is filled with thoughts. The human brain and mind is never at rest unless you are meditating, and, for the most part, even in meditative states, thoughts are present. It is said that the average person has 60,000 thoughts a day. That’s one for every sixty seconds in a minute, times sixty minutes in an hour; times the hours you are awake:

60 x 60= 3600 thoughts an hour. 3600 x 17 awake hours= 61,200

So let’s go with 60,000 thoughts a day. 60,000 x 365 days a year = 21,900,000 thoughts a year. That is twenty-one million, nine-hundred thousand thoughts!

If you live to the age of 80, and your first conscious thoughts begin around the age of three, then you would accumulate thoughts for 77 years. Let’s do the math:

21,900,000 x 77 years = 1, 686, 300,000!!! That’s One Billion, six hundred-eighty-six million, three hundred thousand thoughts in a lifetime! And we are not even including the thoughts you have during the seven to eight hours of sleeping thinking, our dreams.

The question for everyone is: How many of these billion plus thoughts are positive, and how many or negative? Every physician, psychiatrist, or psychologist will affirm that an accumulation of negative thoughts create and add to the stress of a human being. And we know that stress is scientifically linked to illnesses of many kinds, such as headaches, stomachaches, sleeplessness, depression, and anxiety. Chronic stress can contribute to high blood pressure and heart disease. Most experts believe that stress suppresses the immune system which can leave a body susceptible to a myriad of conditions up to and including cancer.

If you consider yourself a person of average happiness, meaning half your thoughts are positive and half are negative, according to our calculations above, you are generating in the neighborhood of 843,150,000 stress-inducing thoughts over a lifetime. Let me spell that out: Eight-hundred, forty-three million, one hundred fifty-thousand negative thoughts which are not adding to your Peace, Joy, Happiness, Abundance, and Health. Each thought with a positive or negative vibration seeking and attracting like vibrations.

“Birds of a feather flock together. What’s the stock of your flock?”

We are talking about half your life! That’s 38.5 years of misery! If half of your waking hours are spent generating negative (lower) vibrations that seek like matches, is it is wonder we are, or at least feel that we are, ill? Anyone who has trouble managing obesity can tell you how much negativity contributes to our waistline. The stress eating associated with the worry about our inward health, and outward appearance, is a reason 95 to 98 percent of conventional diets fail to generate long term success.

“Misery loves company, and that’s bad for business.”

The cycle can be literally head-spinning. The negativity, real or imagined, that led to negative thoughts that led to more out-pictured negative appearances, that then lead to tons of stress, that feel negative and that then lead to more negative thoughts and negative actions and negative reactions that lead to more stress that ultimately break you down mentally and physically…is a vicious cycle that costs us our physical and mental well-being, as well as, collectively, billions of dollars annually. Whether you are reading this through conventional ears or metaphysical clarity; the Truth of the matter is self evident. Negative thoughts reduce the positive expressions of the God attributes, attributes that we share with the Divine through our own inherent divinity.

Grand Illusion

By the way, a large number of your thoughts are just brain activity, neurons firing along the well worn neural pathways you have developed over time. If we are not consciously thinking, our brains go into automatic mode and just fill up our heads with previous thought, by default. This is unconscious or subconscious activity, which is what is operating and running our lives most of the time. The further we consciously, unconsciously, or just ignorantly separate ourselves from our Divine state, the more we see and/or experience negativity. This may result in broken relationships or broken bones. Are you reading this book because you feel separated from your good, separated from God? It is not spiritually possible to be apart from your divinity, only to experience the illusion that you are. This is why being disillusioned, in this example, is actually a good idea!

“As a human being, we seek well being, and the best way to well being is to remember you are a Divine Being.”

You Are God’s Best Idea! You deserve to experience the Undeniable Life. Start now to believe and accept the health that is true in spirit reality; Divine Truth. It starts with Love. Love for your mind, body, and, spirit.

Get Back

In the more than thirty years I worked in day-to-day radio, I can count on one hand the number of sick days I took. I loved my work and my listeners so much that nothing could keep me off the air. Fact is… I just didn’t get sick very often. I had a positive mind set when it came to my vocation. I even broke my leg in 2005 and didn’t miss a minute of work! I was walking in the dark and stepped right into and over the top of a picnic table. The lump that protruded from my leg, just above the chin and right below the knee, was the size of a golf ball. My leg turned twenty different colors before healing. I didn’t miss a single radio show.

There was one time, in the fall of 2001, where I injured my back. I had been throwing the football around in the backyard with my son and a couple of boys from the neighborhood. After we finished, I went into the house and sat on a chair. About three hours later I couldn’t move.

I would eventually find out that my lower lumbar disc had been crushed. I had back spasms that would last for more than a month. I could not get into a position that wasn’t excruciatingly painful. Just walking from the living room to the bedroom was like a thousand red hot knives being stabbed into my back, hips, legs, and even feet. The sciatic nerve was in constant stress, sending lightning bolts down through my hips, leg, and toes.

Help!

Once I got to the bed, I stayed there for the next three weeks. I was an invalid. I could do nothing for myself. It was humiliating and humbling. I was vulnerable for the first time since my childhood. I did do some computer work from home, creating the music logs for the radio station, but not much else. I had a massage therapist in and a chiropractor. They did the best they could, but I was in severe pain. Although I had a doctor’s permit to be off work, the business manager called and alerted me to the plans of the company to fire me. He told me I had to somehow get back to work within the next five days or I was done.

Denise took me to the hospital to get x-rays. It took me one hour to walk from the bedroom to the van which was parked near the porch. Every step was walking death. Meaning, death would have been better than this. Just bending my head low enough to get into the van was like jagged nails in my spine. The x-ray ordeal was a nightmare. The technicians had trouble generating an x-ray that could penetrate my body so I had to go to a second hospital to use a more powerful x-ray machine. Just getting up and down from the wheelchair was mind numbingly painful. The memory of getting onto and off that x-ray table still sends shivers through my body to this day.

Getting Better

I was motivated. My doctor told me that a normal person would have gone on disability for a year or more. I came back in less than a month. I used a walker for several months, then a cane for a few more. I could walk without the cane and just a little pain after nine months. I should have had surgery. I should have been on disability. I asked God, the Divinity within, to give me what I needed to get up and move and to ultimately heal.

Love is powerful. My love for family, wanting to continue to provide for them, got me out of that bed, along with the love for and from my listeners too. The experience of being an invalid for those three weeks has given me great empathy for those in similar or worse situations. If you have the ability to move, the gift of motion, never take it for granted. Don’t neglect yourself to the point where you can no longer enjoy the simple things like getting on the floor to play with your child or grandchild. Most of us enjoy Divine Health without a consciousness of gratitude. Imagine how much better our health could be experienced with a consciousness of gratitude?

“The world doesn’t need a Cure, it needs to Care. The Cure for what ails us will be in the caring for us.”

As I mentioned earlier in the book, when it comes to health and healing, I refer you to You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay (www.hayhouse.com) as well as the inspired works of Ernest Holmes. (www.unitedcentersforspiritualliving.org) As of this writing, I am taking the Licensed Practitioner course at the Center for Spiritual Living. The concept of healing is that most illnesses are manifestations of the Mind. Simply put, a person who always believes they get sick at certain times of the year will get sick at certain times of the year. A consciousness of fear regarding health will almost certainly manifest the condition feared.

Feeling Stronger Everyday

As powerful as the divinity within is, our Minds are fertile ground for ideas, good and not so good. Did you know that Jesus was told by his mother, his father, and his aunt, that he was destined for greatness? All three had slightly different ideas of how it was going to materialize, but divinity did emerge and unfold unlike it had never before: divine healings, divine understanding…Divinity Itself. Do you think Jesus, being told incessantly as a child he was destined for greatness, was led to recognized his divinity and express God like none had before or since? Do you think a child who is told they are less than good or no good, might be led to express something less than their divinity?

Do you think that being told hundreds of times a day via commercials on TV and radio, magazines and newspapers, and now the Internet, that you are just a dirty door handle away from a cold might condition the mind and body to accept ill health as the norm instead of as an aberration? Remember, we are thinking 60,000 thoughts a day and the pattern and direction of those thoughts are nudged in all kinds of directions. As a male who watches a lot of sports television, it is amazing that I am not experiencing an inability to make love while simultaneously experiencing the inability to stop peeing!

No matter what you are ready to fully believe or embrace at this moment, you know people who are seemingly always sick and out of the office. They are usually not the happy people. They are the ones who are constantly complaining about their husbands, their kids, their job, and their lives. They are consistently in agitated states, crying and blowing their noses, and blathering “why me” epithets. At the top of this section I put Feeling Stronger Every Day, a reference to a Chicago song. If you think about it, you can interpret those four words in two ways. The obvious way is, that each and every day, we are getting stronger. The other way is a directive to FEEL stronger every day. Did you catch that? This is life and living in a nut shell. Most people wait for outside influences in order to make them feel better. In reality, you are to FEEL better in order to…feel better! Are you living actively or reactively? This makes all the difference in your level of joy, happiness and health.

Before I conclude this section on Divine Healing, I want to be clear about Healings. A healing can be a Blessing. My episode with my back made me a far more empathic person. You become very humble when you can’t go to the bathroom without assistance. An illness or accident is almost always a turning point filled with blessings. I don’t believe that those lessons and blessings had to be delivered through dis-ease, but, if you are headed in the wrong direction, sometimes the U-Turn sign comes in the form of a pain in the backside, to get you back on the Divine side.

Toward the end of this book is a suggested reading list. There are several titles that deal with the subject of health consciousness. These books go into great detail on health consciousness and the developing science that is proving that how and what we think directly affects our state of health. The work of Dr. Emoto regarding experiments with water has been well documented. Since then, he did another experiment where he placed three jars with rice and water in them on a table. One jar he addressed daily for a month with an affirmative Thank You. The second jar is addressed daily with You’re an idiot. The third jar was ignored. After thirty days, jar one was beginning to ferment creating a pleasant aroma. The rice in jar two turned black. The rice in jar three began to rot.

Human beings are made up of about seventy percent water. If we are being told we are ugly, unworthy, sinners, and worse, while accepting and embodying these false ideas, internalizing them as our beliefs, which then are expressed as our feelings and emotions, is it any wonder that the health of our bodies mirror these beliefs? We literally rot from the inside!

Go ahead and declare your Divine Right to good Health. You Are God’s Best Idea!

Accept your divinity and healthfully live the Undeniable Life.

You Are God’s Best Idea!: Great Acceptations and Living the Undeniable Life

“Every day is Christmas morning when we are open to the present possibilities.”

Do you wake up each day thrilled to be alive and ready to be your best? This day is just as important as yesterday was and tomorrow will be. Each day is full of promise and opportunity, but you must also appreciate the day itself: because, the day is Life. Love the days you’ve had. Love the days to come. But, most of all, Love this Day! It is the only one you’ve presently got. I Love Days!

“This is the greatest day for someone. That makes this a great day!”

So if every day is a great day, why not make it great for you, too? Every day we tip the dominoes of Life in positive or negative directions. Be a good tipper! What makes a great day anyway? In the early days of civilization, not being eaten by a Saber Tooth Tiger may have been considered a great day. In the desert, a day where it rains might be considered a great day. In a hospital, an additional day of life for a terminally ill friend might be a great day just as that same friend ending their suffering by transitioning could be perceived as a great day just as well.

I don’t believe a lost day is a lost opportunity because we have as many opportunities as we make and take. We do need to rest. I found that not writing for a few days gave me time to pause and reflect, bringing additional stories and additional clarity to these chapters, like what I am typing right now.

Now is all we have, and yet it is an eternal now. Not everything has to be done today. In some spiritual circles, the suggestion is we’re never done. In others, the suggestion is that there is nothing that necessarily needs to be done, but love. Don’t feel like you have to fill up the now. Enjoy it for what it is. If inspiration is pouring forth, let it flow. If it’s time to get a good night’s sleep, then let it rest. You are eternally Divine. This is not a use-it-or- lose-it proposition. However, the possibilities when you do use it, your Divinity, well, it’s Heaven at hand.

“Someday is an appointment never kept.”

Delete someday from your vocabulary. It is the bane of every lost expression of individual greatness. Someday means Delay. Delay is not one of the seven days of the week. Is this what you want to do? Delay the expression of your inherent Divinity? It is perfectly fine to rest. Resting is better than rushing. The idea is to express Divinity, not, rush Divinity. When things are rushed, it usually results in something less than Divine.

“Great Anticipations begin with Great Preparations!”

Every day is the day you’ve waited for if seeds were sown in preparation for its anticipation. If your days seem unfulfilled, it is because you failed to prepare for them. Every day is a day of harvest one way or the other.

What is great about the sowing of seeds is that from One seed, entire fields and forests emerge over time. Every action you take with intention and conviction causes a reverberation, ripples of positivity (or negativity). You don’t have to sow a million seeds to generate a million trees, or, a million dollars. Sow the expression of your Divinity and allow the Universe and the Universal Laws to do the multiplication.

Lemon-Aid

It was Super Bowl Sunday, 2002; the family was eating at Outback Steakhouse with plans to watch the big game: Patriots vs. the Rams in the Super Dome. I was having my usual filet and Denise the New York strip.

I had picked up a habit of saving money at restaurants by ordering extra lemon wedges, squeezing them into my water glass, adding a sweetener, and thereby creating free lemonade. Lemons are supposed to aid in weight loss and, as usual, despite having steak, I was trying to be a little health conscious. I drank at least three full glasses of the lemon water before it happened.

I had just swallowed a bite of my Victoria’s Filet when Denise offered me a portion of her NY strip. I put it in my mouth when she then said, “Look Mariah Carey is about to sing.” I turned around, and glanced at the TV just as FOX was breaking for a commercial. I turned back around and swallowed, forgetting that I had just inserted a large piece of steak in my mouth, which I hadn’t chewed even once. It lodged in my throat. Regardless of the Outback motto, there are rules when it comes to eating steak; you must chew before swallowing!

Breathe

You know that feeling when, as a child, you hit the ground hard during a game of football or soccer, and you can’t catch your breath, but as awful as that is, you know within moments that you’re going to able to breathe…well this was like that…without the breathing part. I was not breathing. I was choking. I was dying.

I stood up, looking around the room for someone who might look like a doctor. (I think there ought to be a law that states that if you are a doctor, capable of performing an emergency tracheotomy, you should wear something around your neck that flashes: I Am Doctor!) Meantime, Denise was trying to give me the Heimlich Maneuver, but was doing it from the side because I was too large to get her arms around.

Relax

There was a moment of realization, as the sounds around lessened, as well as the prospects of living to see the opening kick-off, that I was going to die, right there in an Outback Steakhouse on Super Bowl Sunday, because I forgot to do what moms tell us to do from the age of three: “chew your food.” I would have laughed out loud if I could have. Then, there was Peace. I stood there knowing that within moments I was going… to be dead, headed somewhere else, and totally at (and with) Peace. No fear, no pain, no strain, no regrets. I relaxed.

Denise hadn’t given up. She was bound and determined I was going to see and hear Mariah Carey sing the national anthem, or she, I mean me, was going to die trying. She was squeezing me like the lemons I had used to make the mock lemonade of which I had drunk three glasses, and saved my life, just in time for me to hear Mariah sing and the home of the brave! Apparently, Denise pumped the lemon water I had been swigging, back up my throat just enough to dislodge the chunk of steak, and when it went back down it dropped right below the wind pipe. It stayed there, or so it seemed, for hours. Every time I swallowed, the discomfort was a reminder of just how close I came to moving on. Denise said she’d seen my eyes begin to glaze over just before water began to seep out the sides of my mouth. Talk about turning lemons into lemonade!

The point of this story is twofold. Had I died that day, it would have been fine, even Divine. I was at peace; there were no regrets. Life is not tragic, no matter how the curtain closes. Because there were, and are, more days, I use each one as an opportunity to accept and express my Divinity, knowing I am God’s Best Idea!, and living the Undeniable Life.

Great Acceptations: Living the Undeniable Life/ Divine You

Don’t let anyone anchored in ignorance suggest that you are anything other than God’s best idea; the first of the Great Acceptations. Accept the idea that you are God’s best idea. Imagine every child starting their lives with the premise, told by loving parents, that they are God’s best idea!? It should be a requirement! Almost everything negative that a person does is because they do not believe they are good or worthy.

Imagine if you knew you were unlimited? Knew you had the power to realize any and every dream? Well, now you do! But the important thing to know is why this is so.

“You can’t get outside of what is inherently inside you.”

There may not be a more important thing in this book than I am about to reveal. What we adore, we surrender to. Most parents put their children at the center of the lives and from that point onward, they surrender to them. That is certainly true of contemporary parents. God adores you. God has surrender to you. God has surrendered to us!

What does that mean? It means that whoever told you otherwise, didn’t understand the basics of the parent and child relationship. The parents I have known, on the whole, over the last 15 or so years, adore their children. Why would God doing anything less? You are precious. You are necessary. Blessed is the person who recognizes and embraces the Divine that is within. It’s OK to have a high opinion of you; God does!

You are fine just the way you are because God made you that way. Now, if you want to behave differently or make an improvement of some kind; go right ahead! But know that you are inherently divine and no pennant; ribbon or trophy makes you better than you already are in spirit.

How are you using your inheritance? Until you fully embody your inherent worthiness; you will fall short of your glorious birthright. How do you that? Just be the love that you are!

The answer is always within. By the time you are finished with this book you will know how amazing you are because I am going to keep telling you!

How does that make you feel? It’s true.

Love the One you’re with, as the One within loves you. There is nothing the One of you can’t do together! Got that? The power is God’s. The Law, in which the power works, is God’s. You use it; for good and with love.

Dance with the One who brought you. You’ve got the One who taught Astaire & Rogers everything they knew as a partner! If you have ever seen them dance together in those old movies then you know there is God. If you have ever heard the voice of Karen Carpenter you know God is.

“Some people only dance when their favorite song is playing, sitting out and missing all the other opportunities to trip the Light fantastic!”

You’re really not at the party if you don’t get on the dance floor. Make God dance; play that funky music! Put on your boogie shoes. You we’re made for dancing; or whatever it is that you desire because that desire is God asking for divine expression through you; when you accept your divinity and live the Undeniable Life

I wrote the above quote today. Life is not a puzzle or a mystery. It's one thing: Love. It doesn't matter what organized religion you follow and practice. You are, by your very creation and existence, a representation of what created you. God. However defined, it is the power behind your being. Every religion refers to this Power; this First Cause, as God (in the English language) and as Love.

You are to be and express what you are. Love. Love is, of course, kindness; peace; joy; happiness; forgiveness and acceptance. Anything less than these and other Divine attributes is a misrepresentation of your Divinity.

God doesn't expect or desire uniformity, if he did all the birds would be doves. He (or however you perceive God) asks for Unity in love. To love God, and your brother as yourself. You can vote for whoever you want but you cannot judge them. You MUST love them. To suggest that you can withhold, with righteousness, love from even one person, means that it can be withheld from you! The only thing that we really need to get; is together. What we want and need is what we already have and are. We just need to express and show it. And that's Love. That's God.

You cannot express God while judging; hating; cursing; or condemning. You are free to disagree. If you have lived as long as I have, you already know how many times your beliefs about earthly matters, change. Especially politics. As someone who has traveled and lived in eight states, my NFL allegiances and Sunday afternoon football watching have included the Bengals; Browns; Steelers; Bears; Packers; Vikings; Saints; Cardinals and Seahawks. You can love The Beatles or the Rolling Stones, or both; or; neither. But you must love your brother because as you do so you are loving yourself and God. Until you do this you are not being who you are or doing what you are here to do.

Why not start unconditionally loving everyone right now? There is no commandment to agree with them about every minute aspect of the Universe. Unconditionally forgive them as well. Forgiveness is the best kind of love you can show another as well as yourself. What you withhold is withheld. That is the Law of Attraction. The Law of Consequences. As you do it is done.

To hold animosity towards anyone is simply foolish. It places stress on oneself. It is very hard to be hugged when your arms are closed. It is impossible to receive love when your heart is closed. Some people support the things they love. Some people fight the things they hate. One of these groups live a life of love and support.

If you have ever been a sales person, you know what it is to be called a representative. An account executive. We are all representing our creator. God. Love. You are also the executive of your accounting on earth. Living in love is living in Heaven; for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand who has love in their heart.

Give a good accounting of yourself and of God. Love unconditionally.

When the saint and the sinner occupy the same place in your heart, you will occupy the same in God's.

Anything less than love is a misrepresentation.

When I took the Myers-Briggs Personality test some years ago; I was happy, and not surprised at all, that I was what only 1% of the world is: a Healer. It is what I am and try to do. Here is the description:

HEALER IDEALISTS (INFP's)

(1% of the Population — One of 16 Myers-Briggs Personality Types, a sub-category of the Idealist NF's)

Healer Idealists are abstract in thought and speech, cooperative in striving for their ends, and informative and introverted in their interpersonal relations. Healers present a seemingly tranquil, and noticeably pleasant face to the world, and though to all appearances they might seem reserved, and even shy, on the inside they are anything but reserved, having a capacity for caring not always found in other types. They care deeply — indeed, passionately — about a few special persons or a favorite cause, and their fervent aim is to bring peace and integrity to their loved ones and the world.

Healers have a profound sense of idealism derived from a strong personal morality, and they conceive of the world as an ethical, honorable place. Indeed, to understand INFP's, we must understand their idealism as almost boundless and selfless, inspiring them to make extraordinary sacrifices for someone or something they believe in. Other types usually shrug off parental expectations that do not fit them, but not the INFP's. Wishing to please their parents and siblings, but not knowing quite how to do it, they try to hide their differences, believing they are bad to be so fanciful, so unlike their more solid brothers and sisters. They wonder, some of them for the rest of their lives, whether they are OK. They are quite OK, just different from the rest of their family — swans reared in a family of ducks. Even so, to realize and really believe this is not easy for them.

These are bible verses that clearly tell us that the Powerful in Peace; experience the Kingdom of Heaven.

You will find Peace only with Truth and Light. Unrest is the consequence of error and darkness. Of separation. In Science of Mind we teach that in spiritual Truth there is no separation. All there is; is God and God is all there is.

And we are One with God.

In the Course in Miracles on the introduction page it is written:

Nothing real can be threatened . Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the Peace of God.

It also states that the only thing that is real is love. And God is Love. Anything that isn't Love isn't real; it is illusion caused by our imagined separation from God.

And the result of that is fear; like a child lost at the Circus. When you're four years-old those giant people with the blue hair; painted faces and polka dot costumes can be mighty scary. And the clowns are scary too.:-) There are Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my. And those are just the lousy sports teams in the Midwest.
We're scared and most of us don't even know it. Persons who are not scared don't scream; don't threaten; and don't kill; unless ordered to do so by those who are.

There is joy; comfort; liberty and peace in the consciousness of Sonship with God.

We have divine privileges. Think about that. DIVINE PRIVILEGES! And so few know this Truth even though it has been written; spoken and shared in divinely inspired books and by and through inspired children of God over and over and over again. Truth seekers find truth. Those who are satisfied with lies live their lives trying to get others to lie with them; literally and figuratively; and boy do they get angry when we choose liberty and love.

Truth seeking usually comes when the discomfort of not knowing becomes unbearable. Sort of like those itchy old sweaters that eventually find their way to attics.

Our parents know and knew we'd stumble and fall. They used to tell stories about their kids; then took pictures. Now they videotape our clumsiness and send them in to "America's Funniest Home Videos" or upload them on "YouTube". Our follies are expected and forgiven ahead of time as are all of our mistakes and errors. Yes, a child who fears she has let a parent down "feels" separated from their parent's love but the parent doesn't.

Fear not. You are not lost; you are loved. We are the beloved.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ consciousness and Sonship.

May you experience the love of Christ consciousness, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

I've added the word consciousness because in the Science of Mind we teach that our inner consciousness determines our outer experience.

There is a Divine Peace; Love and Understanding that resides and dwells within you and walks beside you. It is already a part of your Divine inheritance.

It's time to read God's Will.

Sin and separation are a part of creature consciousness not Christ or God consciousness.

War is the absence of Peace; which is caused by fear which is the absence of love; and the absence of Love; which is God; is an illusion.

Think back to when you were three; four or five. When time seemed to stand still as you played with friends; catching fireflies; searching for the end of rainbows; laughing; living and loving. You were not seeking our searching for Peace. You were being Peace as frogs croaked and the crickets "cricked" and the stars twinkled and you knew there was no place like home. And home is where the heart is and in your heart beats the peace; love and understanding of our Creator who could no more lose you than Jesus himself because, after all, like Jesus, you also are a child of God.

So, to answer Elvis Costello's musical question:

Hope is here!
The strong are here!
The trusted are here!
Harmony is here!

And that laughter you hear are the children of the world celebrating the internal and eternal Peace; Love and Understanding of Truth.

God bless the gentle; the merciful; the Peacemakers; for we shall receive our full and rightful inheritance in the Kingdom of Heaven which is right here; right now.

Shortly before Christmas, on my Facebook account, I came across a couple of folks posting their thoughts on John Lennon. The discussion started innocently enough with a former classmate from high school posting a link to Lennon's "Happy Christmas". Another classmate began telling him her beliefs about John Lennon and why she doesn't celebrate his life.

There was a 1979 "WKRP in Cincinnati" episode that used as its plot line a protest of WKRP because it was playing John Lennon's "Imagine". I found it hard to believe, in what I thought were the enlightened '70s, that there were still people like that. But, here we are, 30 years later, and it seems as if some people are still categorizing people; countries; faiths; lifestyles; as being "right" or "wrong". Like all of us, John Lennon was off the mark on some things, but his ideas on Peace; Love and Understanding, are not among those.

I'll call my childhood friend, "Tess". Tess brought up the "we are more popular than Jesus" statement given in an interview in 1965, less than two years into "Beatlemania". First of all, even when Jesus was here in flesh, he wasn't that popular. Popularity wasn't the aim of Jesus. It was Enlightenment. The often used term, Jesus Christ, is incorrect. It is Jesus the Christ. Christ, coming from the Greek Christos, which means "enlightened". Jesus the Enlightened. John Lennon was 25 years-old when he made the comment. God help any of us it we are to be judged forever for something we said at 25. Imagine being a Beatle in 1965? The Beatles had the combined popularity of Elvis and Frank Sinatra; The Beach Boys and all of the Motown roster!. The comment was true. But, if John would have said "water, is more popular than Jesus", that would have been true too. But, like Jesus, Lennon was more interested in Love; Peace and Brotherhood, than popularity. It was clear he struggled with all of the adulation and idolization. (As did Jesus).

A person who writes "Give Peace a Chance" and "Happy Christmas (War is Over)" is reflecting the message of Jesus. Jesus came to say: "Love thy neighbor as yourself". Lennon was closer to the idea of Christianity than most. Through the second half of the 1970s he literally gave away his identity as a Beatle, and as a solo artist, to try to be who we all really are: a child of God. He grappled with all the temptations human beings contend with and through it all, used his gifts from God to make some of the most beautiful and important music of all time.

The Lennon detractor I speak of, who certainly isn't alone, sited the song "Imagine" as more reason to dismiss John. "Imagine"; which is #3 on "Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs of All Time" list, and according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, is the best song of the last 100 years; says in its lyrics:

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

The Bible clearly states that "The Kingdom is Within" and "The Kingdom of God is at hand". Heaven is a state of Mind. So is Hell. You can find Hell in a Beverly Hills mansion and Heaven in a holler in Tennessee. Regular readers know that I believe God is Love. You and I are from God's Imagination. The whole Universe is God's Imagination. We Imagine what our lives are and how they shall be. Heaven or Hell.

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

We, have imagined all the separations that exist between God's children. Most indigenous peoples never create "countries". That was what we did to keep people from other places out of our "country". And because we did that, mother country (instead of mother earth) had to be defended and killed for. John Lennon is simply saying; "imagine", if that wasn't the case, if we were One as we in the Spiritual practices know in Truth, we are. John Lennon wasn't a Communist because he thought it would be nice if there were fewer made up reasons to slaughter each other.

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Is there any doubt that the world is heading this way? The Internet has us connected, almost, Universally. Twitter alone has connected the like minded by the tens of thousands, even, millions. We are figuratively, even literally, re-imagining the present to create a better future.

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

In Metaphysics, we know that all forms were once the stuff of Spirit, and will again be someday. We "possess" this physical body but it will pass away as we transmute into what is next. I have nothing against "possessions". I'm typing on a computer that, I guess, I possess for now, but will end up in a landfill where a robot named Wall-E will spend hundreds of years cleaning it up after all possessions have become; un-possessed.

Oh, of course, what about that nasty little reference to "religion" in stanza two? God never created a religion. Jesus never created a religion. By the way, religion is defined as: "a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion." Persons agreed upon. That is what religion is. An agreement among people. As are countries and just about everything else. Not an agreement with God. That's where my agreements are. I agree with God. I agree with Love. I operate with Love; God; in Mind. I operate with God's Law in Mind as well. It is this way that I purposefully Imagine my Life.

There is One Mind. One Life. One Power. One God. John Lennon knew this better than most and he used his God given talents and his realized Consciousness to create more positive expressions of God then 100 million lives of those yet enlightened. And, like Jesus, he was terribly misunderstood and misinterpreted. Like Gandhi and Martin Luther King; Abraham Lincoln and yes, Jesus, he was killed for sharing and showing new insights and a better way out of darkness. Lennon writes in the song "The Ballad of John and Yoko":

Christ you know it ain't easy,
You know how hard it can be.
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me.

Why is it that those who best exhibit God qualities: Peace; Love; Joy; Wisdom; Beauty; Light; Life; and Prosperity; society holds in contempt? The ignorant worship at the alter of ignorance.

John Lennon asked us to simply imagine only a few things. He is both beloved and hated for the Truth he shared.

God Bless my former classmates who with their opposing points of view motivated me to write this piece, about Peace and John Lennon, whose words and voice sing out still to remind us that Peace must be Imagined.

Life is a Gift. The Gift, for which everything else in Creation was created for. For You and me. Every Living Thing. Without Life, there would be no need for all that is seen. Life experiencing Life. Loving Life. Embracing Life. Expressing Life. Expressing, God, through Living; Life.

Life.

Love, the cause. Life, the effect.

If you want more Life L-O-V-E. Love Life.

See Life as your Song and Sing. It is Your Song in Your Voice. Your Life is an Individualized sonnet of God.

Ernest Holmes writes: "There is a song upon my lips today; it sings of the glad heart and the happy ways of Life."

Life is Eternal. It was something, it is something, and it becomes something new, and becomes something more, and how many times it does this we don't know but we do know that God is back of it and God is expressed in and through it as much as we choose to embrace God. Embrace Love. Embrace Life.

If you want the life of your dreams; begin living the dreams of your Life. No one stands in the way of the dream except the dreamer. Between the visible and invisible is the undeniable stuff dreams are made of.

Live undeniable. Love undeniable. Live the Undeniable Life.

Life is not on Sale. There is no rush to grab the best bargains. Abundance abounds. The supply is not limited.

God doesn't promise an unlimited amount of days but God does not limit your promise. The potential to fulfill Life's promise.

Looking through the eyes of God you would see everything the Divine has inspired: Perfect; Whole and Complete: Life.

Love is IN you. You are IN Love. Life is IN you. You are IN Life.

Live IN Love with Life.

You are Life.

You Are Inside What Is Inside You

God is Love.

Know this and know all there is to really know. Everything is connected to this simple Truth.

God is Love.

Everything of God and from God is Love manifest whether spirit or form. Everything in its natural state, in the state in which God meant it, is Love.

When you are consciously living Love you are doing so with and through God. You are resonating with God. Vibrating God. This God consciousness is a place everyone has experienced. When it happens it is usually brief but, oh so profound. Certainly babies have this. They are just being what God created them to be: Themselves. Love. They know not their name, their nationality, their ethnicity. They know nothing other than they are, and they Love.

Your foremost responsibility, if you call just being who you are a responsibility, is to Love. The Divine resides in you so recognizing and allowing what is already inherent in you shine forth is the idea. And all of what you see is an idea. You are God’s idea. Think of that? Because you are that.

Remember: You are inside what is inside you. Love.

All the emotions and feelings we use to describe variations of Bliss; Joy; Comfort; Elation; Merriment; Revelry; begin with Love. And Love begins with God because God is Love.

The Adam and Eve tale is not a "trying to get away with it" story. It is a "getting away from It" story. Eve and Adam, when they took part in that apple thing, they were consciously a-part from Love; they were a-part from God. Mankind was not condemned because of one or two bites of a Golden delicious; but it was the first time they consciously acted without God in Mind. That’s all. And that’s All. Because God is All and All is God so All should be done with and through God. With and through Love.

This is our natural way of being. We can all remember our early years when joy and peace were what we were all about. It is my suggestion that you can connect all human strife, from small agitations to catastrophic tragedy to thoughts and actions individually or collectively that were done without Love. Without God.

Love is Love. God is God.

It is important to note that I am not speaking about love for a thing. Or love of a thing. Millions have been murdered for the love of Country and for the so-called Love of God.

I am talking about acting through and with Love. Through and with God. And if God is Love as we profess, and Love is kind; thoughtful; tender; mild; beautiful; joyful; peaceful; then we know it isn’t the opposite of these attributes. It is not selfish; judgmental; unkind and it never condemns because there is no redemption in condemnation. God does not condemn.

If a person fully recognized that their father/mother/One; were Love, so they could be nothing other than Love, then all they would have to do is BE who they already are. The puppy has no trouble being a puppy. There’s a reason it’s called Puppy Love.

Where there is no Peace, there is instead Fear. And as I’m sure you have heard the opposite of Love isn’t hate…it is Fear.

I believe that opposition in Life comes only from what you oppose. Opposition seeks opportunity. It can't oppose you if you haven't already suggested to the Universe that you are in opposition to it. And we oppose what we fear. And fear is the opposition to Love. And fear opposes Love like dark fears Light. When there is Light there is no darkness when there is Love there is no Fear. Fear disappears in the presence of Love. Of God.

Align with Love. And Love aligns with You. Love is God. And Love is the Answer. The question? What is God? Is that all there is? Yes! All there is; is Love. If you choose to look through the eyes of God. All there is; is Peace, if you choose to live life with and through Love; through Peace; through God. And God is Divine, as you are.

If you are having any difficulty in fully understanding what I’m sharing, that’s OK. There is no commandment to Understand, just to love God and your neighbor as yourself. That “as yourself” is key because if you don’t love yourself you cannot love God and neighbor. Remember, you Love yourself just as you love everything else, through and with God. With God---YOU CAN---love yourself, your neighbor and, yes, God. That is the miracle. God receives your love when you use God’s love to Love God.

With this knowing, comes Peace. I don’t believe anyone armed with this awareness could ever harm another soul.

Love and Learn. It is Why We Are Here.

When All You Have is Love, You Possess All There Is to Have.

Peace Be with You. Love Be with You. God Be with You.

Be Peace. Be Love. Be the consciousness of God and you
will have become what you came to be.

The Truth About Adam and Eve

Last weekend while sleeping a very vivid message came through loud and clear. Who it was from or where it was from isn't as important as what I received. As you are about to find out, the Adam and Eve story isn't about trying to "get away with it" as much as it is a trying "to get away FROM it" story and how that doesn't work so well.

For years, like most people, I have had issues with the story and its message. The traditional take is that God kicked his first two children out of paradise for being disobedient. Fairly big kick in the crotch for one damn apple. About a decade ago there was a book that tried to make the case that Adam and Eve were BLESSED by the whole snake and fruit episode by being able to bare children and learning the value in a hard day's work. I kind of liked that one but it was purely conjecture and not based on any truth.

In my recent dream, where it is said by many that the dream state is as relevant and real as our so-called awaken state, I was told this simple, I believe, Truth:

"God is Love. Love is the only directive from God. Love yourself. Love your fellow man. Do everything with a consciousness of Love and you are with God in all the things you do. When you do anything without Love, you are acting separately of God. The lesson to take from the tale of Adam and Eve is simply that the act of eating the forbidden fruit was not an act of Love. Not an act with God. There was no judgment on God's part. God could no more judge and condemn these characters, which in reality are you and I, than God could condemn Itself. This story is not about disobedience and only somewhat about consequence. It is simply a reminder that you and I are to Love because we are made of and from Love and when we are making choices outside of Love we step away from our Source and forget who we are."

When we forget who we are we do things that range from silly (like eating a piece of fruit that may not be as good as the others made available) to tragic. Nothing tragic results from Love.

As @Michelle__Clark wrote today on Twitter.com: "We are all born for love. It is the principle of existence, and its only end."

That is it my friends. Love.

I recently wrote the following tweets about God and Love:

"We Were Meant To Be Lovers. Do we understand? God made us to Love...each other. That is It. It is what matters."

"You have One primary responsibility. To Love. Everything good comes from and through Love."

"Do what you do with Love and through Love. Only when we think and act without Love (God) we suffer consequences. It is that simple."

"Do One thing. Love. The One Thing Is Love. It doesn't do anything but Love. It is why you are here."

Adam and Eve are representatives of you and I. They were and are Loved and Beloved. They did what we do multiple times a day: Think and Act without Love/God. Our responsibility is to reduce those moments to the point where we are rarely without Love and God directing our thoughts and actions.

The Adam and Eve story isn't about "trying to get away with it". It is about when we try to "get away from it", as in when we get away from God and Love, things don't go so well. Stay with It. Love. God.

Universal Mind

Here is just one story I can share about my experience with the Universal Mind. This was 1985, 25 years before I had ever heard the term; Universal Mind.

I was working the overnight hours (Midnight to 6am) at a radio station in Columbus, Ohio. My future wife was working evenings at a sign company. Due to these odd hours we were not spending much time together. I was given a rare weekday night off for doing something extra well at work and I wanted to have a "date" with my girl. I asked Denise if she could get the night off. She asked what excuse she could use. I don't make a habit of lying so coming up with a "story" was somewhat uncomfortable. I thought for a few seconds and said:

"Tell them that Doug's sister, Donna, called and told him that his grandmother has fallen out at the lake. She's broken her hip. They've taken her to the hospital. The doctors don't think she is going to make it through the night and have asked for the family to come and be with her."

That is what Denise told her employer so she could get the night off for our date.

The following day, 24 hours later, at about 3:30 in the afternoon, just minutes before Denise was going to work, the phone rang. It was my sister Donna. This is what I heard her say:

"Doug...grandmother has fallen out at the lake. She's broken her hip. They've taken her to the hospital. The doctors don't think she is going to make it through the night and have asked for the family to come and be with her."

It was verbatim what I had "thought" and given to my fiancee as an excuse to get a night off from work. I did not create this event. This event was already a part of Universal Mind. God's Mind. Our Mind.

Universal Mind. The concept is that there is One Mind. God's Mind. And we are all One with this Mind. If you believe in God you probably also believe that God knows everything that was; is; and will be. (And maybe the will be has already been.) There is no other explanation for me being able to know this future event, an unusual event at that, with such detail and clarity, without the Universal Mind at play.

I have had this ability for as long as I can remember. Knowing the circumstances of my grandmother's ultimate passing is just one case of several others that happened during that period. There are more that I will share at a later date. These were so disturbing that I purposefully shut them off and tried to deny them.

Just this past week I had been thinking about religion and faiths and if there had ever been a survey done regarding suicide rates among the various paths. I had been thinking that if your belief system is one in which you believe God is always with you; IN you, that it would be very difficult to fall so far into darkness that one would take their own life.

I thought and thought and thought about this. On Sunday evening I got an email informing me that a person who had been attending my church, but not so much lately, had apparently taken her life. Had my preoccupation with faiths and suicide been a message from Universal Mind that someone near and dear was going to be choosing to leave us? I had seen my friend a couple weeks previously and when we hugged it was not the average glad to see you hug. It was intense, hard, grasping and a holding on kind of hug. One that, on one hand made me feel so loved, and on the other like, this is the kind of hug someone gives you when they won't be seeing you for awhile.

I will share with you in another article my thoughts on our immortality but for now I just want to share with you that we are connected. We are one in some universal, spiritual, maybe even scientific way. I know this. I've experienced it. And so have you.

If we are One in Universal Mind I will do my part to make sure my thoughts are good thoughts.

Great Acceptations

If you are like me, you probably didn't even know the word Acceptation even existed. I was tweeting on Wednesday night, playing with words as I love to do and wrote a quote with the word Exceptional in it. Then I wrote Acceptional, only to find that there is no such word. (Although there should be)When I right clicked the optional words, they included: Acceptation. Wow. Love it. I googled that word and almost nobody uses it. So since I was playing with the word: Exceptional, I thought of Expectation, then Great Expectations and then: Great Acceptations.

Great Expectations must begin with Great Acceptation.

Lately I keep coming back to a recurring theme of receiving; reception; allowance. Acceptation. Perfect. For many people the Law of Attraction is about acting and attracting. And, of course, that is a part of it. Belief + Thought + Act + Accept= Manifestation/Results; etc. A Lot of LOA minded folks get most of the equation but either forget or don't know about receptive consciousness. You give thanks with great gratitude about the gifts you are about to receive. Acceptation. Beautiful.

Great Expectations must begin with Great Acceptation.

We don't compete for God's gifts. We receive them. If you find yourself struggling to achieve goals in order to meet your (Or someone else) expectations, you are not in a receptive frame of Mind. Your heavenly allowance is equal to your consciousness of It. You could even call this your; Acceptance.

Great Expectations must begin with Great Acceptation.

When the song is sung the singer pauses for the applause. The farmer doesn't sew seeds only to admire the field so he can paint a picture. Don't forget to reap the Harvest.

Your expectations are always met to the degree you can conceive and receive.

Great Expectations must begin with Great Acceptation.

God gives more than we will ever accept because God is more accepting of us than we are of ourselves. God knows who we are because we are a part of It and It is a part of us.

The most underrated part of the Law of Attraction is the easiest part. Acceptance.

"Great Acceptations." Sounds like the making of a good book that I Expect to write.

"Butterfly Kisses": The song you almost never knew.

In the 1990s I was a radio program director in Wheeling, WV. My station was WKWK-FM. We were a highly successful "Lite Rock" station in what is known as the Ohio Valley. Wheeling is right on the Ohio River across from Ohio. One hour from Pittsburgh.

Starting in 1990, I quickly became known as the program director with "Golden" ears. Almost without fail, I picked and predicted the hits at Adult Contemporary radio. Record companies would send me albums (CDs) and ask me what the "hits" were. This knack of knowing what people like is nothing more than knowing what I like: Good Music. I was one of the fist half dozen radio program directors who played Natalie Cole's duet with her father; "Unforgettable". Even the record company wasn't sure if contemporary radio would embrace a 40 year-old song sung in part by a dead guy. I voted yes; and eight or nine million copies and several Grammy awards later, we were proven right.

In August of 1996, an independent record promotion firm (Donna Brake Promotion) was asked to "work" a Christian label song that had had some success at Christian radio called; "Butterfly Kisses". Michael W. Smith; Kathy Troccoli and Amy Grant had scored hits at Pop radio in the early '90s but things were drying up at that time for Christian cross-over artists so breaking a record across formats was not as easy as it had been. Grunge; Alternative; Rap; Dance and the Lilith Fair sound were dominating the airwaves.

Thirty programmers at AC radio were sent copies of Butterfly Kisses and asked to review and consider for airplay. Twenty-seven totally passed on the song. Three stations gave the song "test" spins. WKWK was one of them. From my first listen I was convinced this was a hit that would be perfect for my station and our format. The tear that I wiped from my face was all the proof I needed. From the very first spin on my morning show, the phones blew up! This song connected unlike any song I had played in my previous 16 years in the business.(Or since) One father in particular, who had recently lost his daughter, would call and request the song frequently. Butterfly Kisses went in to immediate heavy rotation.

Meantime, according to what the record promoter told me; a station in Albany, New York and Seattle, Washington were the only other stations to give the record a shot. One station literally got scared by the phone reaction the song received and stopped playing it because he didn't want to get "stuck" playing this "sappy" song for six months, or something to that effect. The other station said they were going to "save" the song for the Spring 1997Arbitron ratings period, thinking it would help with their listenership. One station and one station only chose to "stay" with the song: WKWK and Doug Daniels.

In September, we decided to change our live Nite Lite Love Song to the very new and syndicated: "Delilah After Dark" love song show. (This was the beginning of consolidation in the radio indusrty and cuts were being made right and left) At that time the trick with the Delilah Show, which was on less than 15 stations at the time, was to make her sound as "local" as possible. (That lasted until Delilah started appearing in national magazines and TV talk shows). When Delilah debuted on WKWK-FM it occurred to me that it would be a dead giveaway that the show was not originating locally if she wasn't playing our #1 song; Butterfly Kisses.

I overnighted Delilah the Bob Carlisle/Randy Thomas song about fathers; daughters; weddings and endearment kisses with a letter explaining that 1.) I thought she'd like this song and 2.) that it was important she play it or it would be obvious her show wasn't local. The next evening, a Wednesday evening, Delilah played Butterfly Kisses for the first of what would be hundreds and hundreds of times. She talked about her difficult relationship with your own father; played the song and wept openly on the air. Her listeners reacted the same as ours. The phones melted. For the next several months she would play this song, often, two or more times in what is only a five hour show. That was, and still is, unheard of. I was happy that my gift of this song; meant so much to her and so many others. The Delilah Show's popularity soared like a bionic butterfly; ratings went through the roof; her show added affiliates at a record pace and the Christian label Butterfly Kisses was on (Diadem) was selling a ton of product.

From September, 1996 to April, 1997; the Butterfly Kisses story grew. Almost unthinkably though, outside of my radio station and the Delilah show, almost nobody else at secular radio was picking up on the obvious, that this was a hit and they should be playing the song.

In mid-February 1997 I was attending the Gavin Convention in New Orleans. Gavin magazine was a "trade paper" with record charts. I had heard through John Brake at the record promotion company, that a major label was interested in "picking up" Butterfly Kisses from its small Christian label and realeasing it nationally. As God as my witness, I was in an elevator with a fellow from JIVE records named Jack Satter. As we were going up, I whispered: "Butterfly Kisses". He turned to me and said :"What did you say, what do you know about Butterfly Kisses". I said: "I know you are considering picking the song up for a national release...do it...it has been my #1 songs for nearly six months". He said; thanks for the info and smiling broadly, exited the elevator. I knew then what you know now, Butterfly Kisses was going to FINALLY be set free.

To make an already long story a little less so, JIVE records did release Butterfly Kisses and it went to #1 on five different charts in the spring/summer of 1997. But now you know where its' secular success began. In my office at the Capitol Music Hall in Wheeling, WV when what went in my ear came out a tear.

Pause

For most of my life I have been using audio and video equipment that have a "PAUSE" button. The cassette machine my neighbor introduced me to in 1965 when we were playing radio, had a pause button. The cassette machine I used to learn how to play trombone had a pause button. In the radio business I have used reel to reel players; DAT machines; digital recorders and more with the proverbial pause switch. Video players and now, DVR machines, allow you to pause. Pause recording and pause playback. Pausing, is important.

As human beings it is important to "pause". But we don't always, do we?

An aspect of my daily life that I have improved since immersing myself in the material of Ernest Holmes, is putting time in between the hearing or observation of something negative, and any associated reaction. Quick reaction time may be important in sports but can be disastrous in life. It is important to: PAUSE. Put time in between the event and your reaction to it. In the Science of Mind we are taught that there is a difference in what is Truth and what is a so called "fact". It was a fact that people did not fly in airplanes prior to the Wright brothers but it was not true that humans could not fly in airplanes. They always could, but it took the belief, commitment and passion of the Brothers Wright, to manifest this Truth. In relation to an outward appearance of someone seemingly doing or saying something negative about you; it simply may not be true. We are often mistaken. We perceive slights that are more reflective of our own state of mind than the person in question. That is one reason to press PAUSE. According to many mystics all of this is illusion anyway, so, even it there is some truth to a criticism, it is not Truth in Spirit Reality where you and your brother are Perfect; Whole and Complete.

Getting upset about something you "think" you heard or "think" you know is simply thought-less. Life is not like all those 1970s sitcoms that open with a "misunderstanding" that everyone laughs about in scene three. PAUSE; when you perceive something is amiss. Anger won't make it better anyway. If you are perceiving the circumstance incorrectly your negative reaction may quickly take center stage.

I speak from experience. When you have a built in "expectation" that a person, especially one in an authority position, is going to eventually find fault in you or your performance, guess what happens, either they do (Law of Attraction) or you simply "think" they do as you press PLAY on the reruns of your life. PAUSE. Erase old thought patterns that contribute to self sabotage.

Let me share a secret: People are not out to get you. They are usually too tied up with their own real or imagined dramas than to spend a whole lot of time on you. God is with you. God is your partner and protection. Be at ease knowing that God is with you, so who could possibly be against you, except yourself?

In the Science of Mind (and many other New Thought practices) the idea is to believe that the WHOLE WORLD is conspiring ON your behalf. Believe it. Affirm it...And It Is So.

Pause. Put time and space in between the hearing of anything of a negative nature. There is almost always something more to the story. It is like that kids game Telephone where the story gets bigger down the line. And remember, even if there is a temporary "fact" in the negative appearance, (such as the boss being upset with something you did or didn't do) it is just that; a TEMPORARY fact that can be replaced with the permanent Truth that you are perfectly fine. PAUSE. Smile. Own the moment, after all you probably attracted at least a part of it through negative thoughts.

I have seen and been a party to situations that should have amounted to nothing, that became full fledged four-alarm emergencies because of OVER reacting, whether it was in offense or defense of a factual or fictional happenstance.

Pause. See the lesson or gift. See the opportunity for you to be the Adult if the charges put forth are ridiculous. Have a laugh. Be as quick to offer forgiveness as you would have desired mercy had you been the one that "got it wrong".

What is most important after all; to be right, or be happy? Pause. Relax. Speak from the Peace that is God that resides in you.

As someone who works with audio recorders everyday, I can tell you that I am able to erase mistakes and/or rewind tracks. In life, it is much harder to rewind or erase words and emotions once they have been expressed. The Universe moves and creates based on your vibrations which come from your beliefs; actions and reactions. Your thoughts. Pressing your internal PAUSE button will give you a chance to keep you on the right track, instead of throwing a verbal punch that could change the entire trajectory of your life.

There is a book called "10-10-10" written by Susan Welch. Her formula is simple. With whatever choice you are about to make, once made, how will it affect you 10 minutes from now; 10 months from now and 10 years from now. Even when you are "right", it is still better to press PAUSE, and act like the person who is speaking with the assurance that God is within.

Rudyard Kipling's poem "If" says it so well:

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Your Five Star Life *****

Your life. If reviewing like a movie critic, how many stars would your life receive? You get to choose. Would a "perfect" life receive five stars? Then your life gets five stars. Your life IS perfect. If perfection is defined as being executed as written. You see, you have written every line of your life. You've cast all the characters. In some ways, you're actually playing all the roles. (If you believe in Oneness) You are definitely directing...and editing. You have even decided the soundtrack. Oh, that one is a bit easier to comprehend because, after all, we do choose the music we listen to.

Ah, and what else? The TV shows you watch? Your friends? Your job? Your education? The car you drive? Of course, you've made all those decisions. We are not talking metaphorically are we? I mean, you really have chosen the food you've eaten (at least as an adult) who you date and ultimately, marry. You've chosen whether to blog; whether to protest; speak out for; speak out against, what church you attend and how much you support them financially. Your physical and mental health are primarily manifestations of either lifestyle choices and your state of mind which is generated by your thoughts. In fact, thoughts, preceded everything I've just listed.

Some Law of Attraction naysayers get all hung up on the "Thoughts become Things" idea because they are imagining Elizabeth Montgomery twitching her nose and having a seven course meal appear just seconds before Larry Tate arrives with Darren for dinner. Yet, thoughts, preceded everything that you have ever done and will ever do (or not do). So, the story of your life, which is playing out before you in glorious Technicolor, is as you have thought it. As you have written and directed. Even the things that happened due to the free will thoughts of the characters you have chosen to be in your life, that affected you, affect you because you have enter in to or you have invited them in to your world.

The whole "what about parents" thing is pointless because, whether you chose them in spirit before landing on earth or they just ARE, doesn't change the fact that you can keep them in or out of your adult life movie production. You probably don't play the "I'm a little Tea Pot" song from your record collection at age five anymore so you no longer have to play the "crappy parent" tune either.

So, your life is as you have chosen. It IS perfect, as you thought it, but, if you want it to be different you can change it, right now by writing (thinking) up new adventures and casting new players and setting up a different set location. It is all up to you.

Make your life a triumph. Most happy endings seem that much happier when contrasted with earlier scenes anyway. So, no matter how dark things have been, the sun shines and the blue birds sing while the audience applauds, if and when you decide to take your life story in that direction, with your direction, and the inward acknowledgement of the Producer. (If you know what I mean)

Life, is a Gift Exchange

For the hundreds, if not thousands of books that focus on the Law of Attraction, the three words that come up most are: "Thoughts Become Things". Of course, this is true and an economical way to describe this Universal Law. But, there is so much more. Thoughts becoming things has almost no spiritual context. If, like most of us, we are really referring to "God", as the Power behind All That Is, then I'd prefer to use the following short phrase to sum up the Law of Attraction:

"Life, is a Gift Exchange".

God, or whatever term you want to use for Source, originates in you the ability to manifest your unique gifts. It is up to you to fully develop as many of these endowments as possible during your lifetime. Next, is the sharing or giving of these gifts to others. Use your gifts to make a living and make a difference. It is important to give with a glad and open heart without an expectation of reciprocity.

Circulate your Love; Joy; Intelligence; Leadership; Talents and more.

As you serve and share, you will receive in kind the gifts from others that you need to fulfill your promise and purpose. An Exchange of Energy. An Exchange of God's Good, given unconditionally from and through the Infinite, with the free will to express God, or suppress God. That is your choice. We can hang God on a wall or around our necks, but the Universe wants to bring you good tidings and joy, and that happens when you GIVE GOD in the form of the talents God originated in you to express His/Your/Our Divinity.

God is Life.

Life, is a Gift Exchange. Life, is a God Exchange.

Ernest Holmes; Louise Hay; Dr. Wayne Dyer; Don Miguel Ruiz; Florence Scovel Shinn; Eckart Tolle; Jane Roberts; Wallace Wattles; Ralph Waldo Emerson; Emma Curtis Hopkins; Thomas Troward; Mary Baker Eddy; Joel Goldsmith; Napoleon Hill; Deepak Chopra; Emmet Fox; James Allen; Charles Haanel; Raymond Charles Barker; and Earl Nightingale.

All of the above I have read and can recommend without reservation. Some are more "spiritual" than others so you may be drawn to some more than others. I wholly endorse all the works of Ernest Holmes, founder of Religious Science. He may not have been the first of his kind but no one wrote more exhaustively than Mr. Holmes, His "Science of Mind" textbook and "Living Science of Mind" cover about 99% of all there is to know about the Law of Attraction and so much more. If you are seeking something from a female voice, Florence Scovel Shinn is simply wonderful.

Of the "today" group of New Thought "gurus", I prefer Deepak; Dyer; Tolle; Ruiz and Mike Dooley. Actually, Dooley is great to LISTEN to. Ditto for Michael Bernard Beckwith.

Just "google" any of these names and you will find lots of free ebooks; those that are in public domain, as well as vintage audio recordings.

There are dozens more outstanding contributors to New Thought. I just haven't read them yet. Feel free to make comments and recommendations on your favorites.

And So(w), It Is

Lately, all kinds of ideas and insight have been coming into (or out of?)
my conscious-ness. I have been immersed in books about consciousness, especially those pertaining to what is popularly known as the Law of Attraction. Biblically, the LOA is expressed in passages such as:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1.

"As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is" Proverbs 23:7

“It is through thinking that man forms that which he has in life”. (Proverbs 23:7)

Job 3:25: "Because a dreadful thing I have dreaded, it has come upon me. And what I have been scared of comes to me."

John 4:35 says: "Do you not say, "Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest."

"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." Luke 6:35

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philipians 4:8.

I could go on and on. The Bible, and most of the books that speak to spirituality and living a sacred life, are full of Law of Attraction teachings. The most obvious, and the inspiration for this article is:

"Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”-Gal. 6:7.

If ever there was a case to be made that God, or whatever name you choose to call Source; not only endorses the Law of Attraction but is literally the foundation of all Faith based practices, it's that “sowing” includes every thought, effort and action made by any individual. (And collectively!) All such sowing is under the Law, and is governed by the Law of Action and Reaction. (Cause and Effect) Every action is a seed planted in consciousness that returns Results. What results, reward or not, is dependant of the quality of the original thought, desire or action.

In my spiritual practice, I use the term; "And So It Is" at the conclusion of prayer or treatment. These prayers are more like affirmations. that whatever I am seeking is, in reality, already manifest. No wishing or hoping. I plant seeds KNOWING that they will produce good crop, just as I know when planting tomatoes I won't get cotton candy!

Think/Sow-Know-Act; in Faith.

From now on, when I speak the words; "And So It Is"; I will have in mind consciousness, "And So(w), It Is". I Sow, and Reap.

And So(w), It Is!

Rumi's Field

As a part of my Science of Mind Series I Class we had a final project that reflects what we learned. I wrote a poem:

Rumi’s Field

New thoughts, ancient wisdom
The Beacon of a
Beneficent Kingdom.

Messianic Mariners,
Sailing on the waves
of Universal Mind,
Dispatched with Divinity
on the Godship Infinity.

Love; the gentle wind that
parts seas,
The Spirit of Creation,
that launched
Eternity,
anchored by Truth
Our Manifest Destiny.

The Mind mirrors,
The Soul delivers,
Consciousness knows,

Law of Attraction

I was introduced to the Law of Attraction by my brother Dennis over 10 years ago via a Deepak Chopra book. I had been on a spiritual quest for enlightenment for many years. About the time I was downsized in Chicago in February 2007 I saw "The Secret" on the internet and eventually bought the DVD. Watching "The Secret" while unemployed helped me navigate through what was a difficult time in my life. The three months I was out of work felt like three years. What made it even more difficult to accept was the fact that the six months I spent at WZSR/WWYW we had increased the total cume of the radio stations by 40,000 listeners and posted their best ratings ever.

While going through that period a radio friend of mine who is a Law of Attraction life coach told me that I had manifested my unemployment because as he and I both knew, I was miserable there. The GM and VP of Programming who had hired me "went away" and all of a sudden I was "alone". I had planned on making Woodstock my home and this plan was changed. Apparently, and as hard as it is to understand, I (as in me, myself and I) was the one who changed those plans. The key part of the Law of Attraction and the hardest to accept is that YOU are responsible for EVERYTHING that you attract, good or bad. It is easy to accept the "good" things but you must accept the "bad" as well. It just is. You have to put the "victim" clothes away because YOU choose your circumstances one way or another. Oh, and the "bad" things sometimes are the "best" things or at least the "right" things for you.

Getting out, by Law of Attraction, consciously or not, was the best thing that ever happened to me.

The key was to stay in a state of gratitude and to THANK the person who laid me off for doing me a favor. That was a hard one. Long story short, through a positive mental attitude and the Law of Attraction, I landed my present position a few months later. My wife was hired as well. Two weeks after my start date I was promoted to Operations Manager and several weeks after that I was given a second station to program. It is a year and a half later and both stations are doing very well ratings and revenue wise.

Our son goes to a small private high school where he is excelling. I can't imagine a more perfect environment for him. There are only about 140 kids in the entire school. He gets the individual attention and guidance that he needs. Had we stayed in Chicagoland, he'd probably been going to a school with 4000 students!

I'm not the biggest fan of cold and winters. In Pasco over the next several days it will be in the lower to mid 50s! In Rockford it is going to be 20 degrees cooler:-)

I've met some wonderful people in and out of radio. I even attend a "Law of Attraction" Meet Up group. I plan to put the Law of Attraction in action big time in 2009. I plan on creating a web site for commercial purposes. Denise and I want to offer our Voice Over services. We do fun radio spots together. (Think of the couple on the Sonic TV spots) I plan on writing stories about my childhood and my life in radio as well.

2008 was a very good year for me and my family. 2009 promises to be even better. I believe that. How about YOU?

Love Believes in You

So I'm on the radio this morning introducing the song "Do You Believe In Love" by Huey Lewis and the News and in "one of those moments" I said: "Do you believe in love...well...regardless....LOVE believes in YOU". I flipped off the microphone and thought to myself; "I've never heard anyone say that". LOVE (God)...believes in you! I googled "love believes in you" and NOTHING came up. So, maybe, this morning...God whispered a little something in my ear to share with you: LOVE...BELIEVES IN YOU!!!

Now, that's worth sharing:-)

The Magic of Groundhog Day

Anyone who knows me at all knows I'm a big fan of the movie "Groundhog Day". I wrote a blog nearly a year ago entitled February 3rd. The author Paul Hannam has written the book I thought I was going to write. "The Magic of Groundhog Day".

I interviewed Paul recently on KONA AM. As I was listening to his answers to my questions regarding "Groundhog Day" I heard myself in his replies. (only in a really cool British accent)

I look forward to the day I can meet Paul in person. In the meantime I am enjoying reading "The Magic of Groundhog Day". I've underlined almost every passage so far. The book is powerful; even without the Groundhog Day references.

I haven't a clue as to how well Paul's book is going to do from a sales standpoint because frankly, I've always been a bit dismayed when meeting people who tell me that they just don't get the movie. I'd imagine those folks aren't going to have much use for the book either. (But that won't keep me from sending it to them anyway!)

Get it. Read it. Give it to those who you care about.

Danimal

Are you ready for some football? My favorite is college football, (Ohio State) followed by the NFL. This year though, I'm adding high school football. Our son is playing for the Tri-Cities Prep Jaguars. Yes...actually playing...as a 5-9/210pound freshman. (#70 in the photo) Something I didn't expect to happen until at least next year if not later.

Tri-Cities Prep played a school called Easton on Friday night and they barely had enough players to field a team...and this is 8-man football. I gotta give the kids of Easton major props because they played both ways for three quarters until the 45 point rule kicked in. The Jaguars won 46-0. Danny got in during the 1st quater and played nose guard. He stayed in on defense until the game was over. All the Prep kids got to play and play they did. It was so surreal to see Danny out there. He is suffering from chin splints so even walking has been hard on him the last couple weeks. Still...he played and played hard. He played with such intensity that his teammates now call him: Danimal!!!

Daniel was uncertain about playing football. At the school orientation in June, the principle of Prep (Steve Potter) asked the kids (and parents) to go beyond uncertainty. It's always easier to "sit this one out" when you're not sure about outcomes. The winners are those who DON'T KNOW how things are going to go...that get in the game anyway...that are rewarded the most in life.

Danny...you've made mom and dad proud; not because you made a game saving tackle, but because you tackled your uncertainy.

Significance

Significant: important; of consequence.

Very simply, there is only so much room in a person's life. We prioritize. Usually measured by just how significant something is. From relationships to radio stations, we have room for only so many in our minds and our lives. In a given day I drink coffee, diet soda and water. It is rare I consume anything else. Television? I don't go a day without CNN, ESPN and Comedy Central. (For the Dailey Show and The Colbert Report) Lately I've been slipping in Turner Movie Classics . That's just about it. Websites? All Access, My AOL account and OhioState.Rivals.com. (I've just started reading some radio based blogs)

These are the things that are significant to me. These products and services speak to me, meet a need, keep me informed. There are other news outlets, other sports shows and an infinite number of beverages. They are not significant to me and it will be very hard for any of them to break through. They can, if what they deliver is or becomes significant. They won't get me (or you) without a lot of work and a great product or service. I don't have surplus energy, money or time to waste on insignificance.

My question is...how significant is your radio station? The music, especially if it is well done, goes a long way toward attracting the partisans of a given format. But what happens when there are several stations playing the same or similar music? How about all the internet music streams? (I program the Disco Channel at Slacker.com where you can skip songs you don't want to hear or even eliminate certain artists in case you never want to hear the chimpanzee screams of Barry Gibb ever again!) My son spends hours listening to music...from the TV!!! Yep, all those music channels at the end of your cable/satellite television is where my son is exploring all the various music genres. Daniel is not looking for a lot of significance at 14 years old. (too bad there are not any stations even TRYING to attract him! Can you say lost generation?) Your adult listener has well defined areas of interests and needs. Does your station reflect her? Do you know her? SHE needs to be SIGNIFICANT to YOU (and your organization) before you've got any chance of being in her top three...even if you are playing music that should appeal to her.

Are your personalities significant? While I was on the beach...I listened to a lot of radio station streams. I'm embarrassed by how INsignificant most of these personalities sound. No connection. No content. No SIGNIFICANCE!. While programming WKWK/Wheeling, WVAF/Charleston and WGFB/Rockford, I always used morning air personalities in my other dayparts. I wanted my staff to CONNECT. To MATTER. To be significant. Whether talking about the community, American Idol or themselves, they were encouraged to make a connection. STAND OUT. As a program director you should be seeking ways to make your station significant to the community it serves, the issues that are of concern (there are more than you may be aware of---ask around). Your best insurance policy against a downturn in the quality of the music you program, is being significant. As the new OM/PD/AM Show host at Mix 105.3 in Tri-Cities, Washington, I've spent a lot of time asking the locals about what matters to them. Some themes are universal, some are a little more interesting to those who call eastern Washington home.(Heat, Wind, Immigration, Irrigation, and Nuclear Energy)

Be SIGNIFICANT. Listeners need to come to your station to quench their thirst for it.

Time to Celebrate

It's my birthday. July 18th. Time marches. (or does it?) Time is an interesting thing. Some scientists suggest that there is no such thing as time. Nevertheless, I'm now beyond the half way point of my life, unless I'm living a lot longer than I've planned. (after eating several of the donuts my wife brought into the station today, I may be looking at the end of the road sooner than later!)

My birthday probably has meant more to me than it means to most people. I don't remember any significant birthday celebrations during my childhood years. Cake, ice cream and new clothes were the norm. Whoever was around the house to sing---sang. Usually my brother Drew and my sisiter, Dana. Mom made cake. Whatever I wanted. Vanilla ice cream (IGA) and chocolate cake. Very moist. Duncan Hines.

As an adult my day usually involves eating at a favorite restaurant. We used to go to Chi-Chi's. They always sang some made-up birthday song and I always wore the big sombrero. It was fun. I don't even know if there are any Chi-Chi's anymore. (although their products are available in stores)

In years past, as I approached my birthday, I would go into a blue funk. Another year gone by meant one less on the other end. This year I feel fine about it all. The new job is great. Lots to do. No time for wondering why I haven't achieved all that I'd hoped for by now. What I have accomplished is worth celebrating.

I've lived around 16,800 days so far. That's 403,200 hours. 24,192,000 minutes. I don't know how much more time I have...but I'll be grateful for each and every second.

Triumph

Calvin Borel has been racing horses for over 25 years. He's won over 4000 times. I don't know much about thoroughbred horse racing but 4000 sounds pretty good. For some reason, he has only been given five opportunities to ride in the Kentucky Derby. Saturday he won riding Street Sense. I've never seen such unbridled enthusiasm on horse racings' biggest stage. EVERYONE was hugging and high/low fiving Calvin who was raising his fist in the air in triumph while wiping away tears. From what I could discern during the broadcast, he is loved, maybe even BELOVED, by everyone who knows him. The plain speaking horse jockey from St. Martinsville, Louisianna, who looks closer to 61 then 41, has apparently paid his dues, on and off the track. I get the feeling that, for some reason, he has not been chosen to ride as many great horses as you would expect someone who is THIS good. I'm sure there is a very interesting story that someday I hope to read or even watch in a movie theater.

Calvin has an unconventional style of riding. He hugs the rail earning him the nickname: Calvin Bo-rail. It IS smart. The shortest distance around the track. At the Breeders Cup and again Saturday at the Derby, the horses ahead of him parted like the red sea just in time for him to race ahead and win going away. Maybe this tactic hasn't always worked. I don't know. But it was beautiful to watch.

Calvin. God Bless You! You have given every talented person who has been winning at every thing they do, everywhere they go, but who hasn't been given the large stage opportunity, hope and inspiration, that someday, if they keep getting back on the horse, they too will end up in the winner's circle, hands raised high in the air.
